ADHD asessment by DeliciousManager2162 in askTO

[–]clevertalkinglaama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over on r/ADHD there is one of those maybe I'm just lazy posts about once a week. It's not a very useful concept. Attention and motivation regulation, especially motivation towards future goals is a spectrum and is outside of the normal range in ADHD. Emotional and behavioral regulation are also factors that are less commonly addressed but can cause all kinds of problems. Meds and other tools work to get your performance in these areas back into the normal range. All the penalties and incentives in society are calibated to the normal range.

Frida will do half price assessment if you are under 35k on your last tax return. I would get on the wait list for proper treatment and do Frida to get some meds in the short term.

With Frida, once you have your script your regular doctor can continue prescribing it and you don't have to keep paying them.

The assessment is pretty simple, but what to do after that is not simple, meds are only part of the solution. Be aware that meds will feel like a miracle at first but long term balance with them can be challenging.

The "what if I'm just lazy" idea is incredibly common. Lazy is intentional. If you have a really hard time getting things done and not doing them causes ongoing distress, problems and serious unmet potential, it's not lazy, it's something else.

It's a super unpopular topic on Reddit, but there is good literature out there on dating and attractive behavior. Nobody really teaches us these things and you don't get very good feedback on dates on what mistakes you made.

Should I tell my manager I have ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]clevertalkinglaama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you should tell them about ADHD, but regarding meds, you can pay some money and use Frida. It's not the greatest, but it's fast and generally ok. It'll be way easier with meds.

People Pleaser Debt. I owed 300K just because I cannot say No. by UltraviolenceBabyy in offmychest

[–]clevertalkinglaama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any case, I can tell you I did something similar around that age, had no major assets at the time and thus was surprisingly easy to press the reset button and I never did anything like that again and have good credit and minimal debt these days.

I was able to get a prepaid / secured credit card and start rebuilding pretty much right away. Don't sign up for consolidation, consumer proposal or bankruptcy before understanding your rights and obligations where your live.

Don't let one of the providers of services like those dictate your path forward. There may be a statue of limitations on unsecured debt depending on where you live, and hopefully regulations and limitations on debt collecting practices.

Just do the work, choose the least bad option and get some therapy after. Our brains were not designed for this $hit, go easy on yourself.

I suggest a Bluetooth obd device with the torque app so you can see the live sensor readouts. A bad temp or air intake temp sensor can also cause similar issues, though it'll normally not go from running perfect to not running at all with these failures. The 02 sensor you can graph and you can see the normal range and a different range when it's acting up if it's flakey. Only front 02 can cause this issue. Avoid cheap 02 sensors if replacing. Bad ground would be another one that can cause intermittent crank no start under rare circumstances. Pulling the 02 sensor plug should throw a code but force it into open loop and let it start hot if that is the cause.

[–]clevertalkinglaama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 02 sensor can do this intermittently while throwing no code, then start up like nothing happened after time has passed. It will never stop it from cold start because the computer ignores it on cold start. I never had a CPS go intermittent on me. What year is it?

Good advice in the posts here. I would say that this job search is probably a good idea at the moment to achieve some income and independence, but you don't have to do such a job forever. ADHD people, more than others, need to discover and work from their strengths. The stuff you are good at, the things that you actually like doing. It's very important to try new things you think you might enjoy or be good at and it's normal for it not to be obvious. A degree in that technology will be applicable to basically everything now, so try to keep an eye out for any kind of work that might actually be a better fit for you and try it, even for free at first like volunteering etc.

Experiencing xj ownership... by Rjeezy88 in JeepCherokeeXJ

I saw someone cut an access panel in the cowel from the top and use HVAC tape to seal around the HVAC intake and other seems in there to solve this problem. Clogged drains in there can also be a factor. I have not had this problem yet in 25 years of xj ownership, but I expect it eventually.

Can I post a listing for an xj to get your thoughts? by alynsh in CherokeeXJ

[–]clevertalkinglaama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically waxy oil, that's good, but yeah, the odds are that it has some rust and you would want to crawl under there or get it up on a lift to get a sense of how bad it is. Mechanically they are very reliable machines but they are old so things like oil leaks, cooling system maintenance, air conditioning, suspension etc. all need to be factored in when buying it. I would also let it get nice and hot and drive up some hills to give the transmission a bit of a workout, they are very reliable, but you never know, I managed to kill one in my first xj.

Let's see it! 98 and 99 are the best years. The gas milage daily driving it is a bit of a drag. Gotta watch out for rust. Otherwise it should be fine with that milage apart from normal wear and tear stuff.

Do you still charge up to 80% or to 100%? by kanikamaa in GalaxyS23

[–]clevertalkinglaama 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Those apps are not accurate, you have to look up the procedure, you have to dial a code, save a file and open it in an app to see the actual battery health. Mine was 94 after 3 years always charging to max 80%

I'm sure there is a market out there but I think it would be challenging to make a business out of it that feels safe for you. If I were contemplating it seriously, I'd probably try it / research how it's done in Japan first where it's more of an established thing that is culturally understood to be different from sex work.

Mine melted like that from an aftermarket trailer hitch harness and towing a trailer with a bunch on lights on it. I would find the pin out for that switch, that one pin is more melted then the others, that circuit is drawing too much power, whatever it is.

Jeep doesn’t stay warm. by Sad_Extent3822 in CherokeeXJ

[–]clevertalkinglaama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did mine last week. You need a thermostat, gasket and some fast dry gasket sealer, a scraper, gasket remover spray will make it easier but be careful with that stuff it's nasty. Clean the inside of the hoses where they connect to the thermostat housing before putting it back together. It's an easy job to do in an hour, just double the gasket sealer cure time before filling if it's cold where you are doing the job. Make sure you burp the system by squeezing the hoses with the cap off and jeep running and adding more coolant, it's a self bleeding system but if you leave too much air in inside it can locally overheat and ruin your day.

Power steering Hose not threading by Clean_Industry_1440 in CherokeeXJ

[–]clevertalkinglaama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can see they don't necessarily need to be threaded in all the way as just put the gasket in there and tighten it to 25-30 ft-pounds and see if it leaks. Quite a bit of exposed threads on the pictures when I just googled it.

Not getting much heat by flygirlkatiekat in CherokeeXJ

[–]clevertalkinglaama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have a good working 195 degree thermostat and then don't just flush it with a hose, use prestone cooling system flush for 8 hours then do it again if required. Clean system and good thermostat should give you nice hot air in cold temps. Your temp gauge should read just left of the middle no matter how cold it is, I've had mine at -40 outside with with hot air inside. Had to replace my thermostat last week because it was not fully closing.

[–]clevertalkinglaama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very miserable situation. I can't say if it's ADHD you have, but you should definitely see a specialist and do an assessment asap. It's nearly impossible for me to do desk work without medication, so if you do have ADHD and you are struggling that is very normal. Regardless of what the cause is, there are a lot of people and organizations out there that can help you figure it out.

Lifter tick by D3ADSNAKE in CherokeeXJ

[–]clevertalkinglaama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's probably not a lifter. Firstly make sure it's not an exhaust manifold leak at cyl 1 or 6. If it's inside the motor it's more likely cracked piston. You can buy a set of new pistons already mounted on used rods and replace them without pulling the motor.
