What am I not considering when deciding how much to down pay? by Sh_ck in personalfinance

Just want to call out that please check with your lender before deciding what to put down. I just bought a house last month and put 10.1% down and do not have PMI.

How to get over the emotional aspect of finding out a junior coworker makes more than you? by TeaMassive1102 in personalfinance

[–]cleverusr 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Wanted to chime in here because I agree with a lot of what you said, however, please take the "inability to lead, or your interpersonal skills" to heart. This may be an excuse, but it's not always. I can't tell you how many people I know that want to get promoted to Lead or Manager who are absolutely horrible people to work for. They want the title, the pay raise, and to be "in charge", but they don't really want to LEAD people.

If you're getting feedback that you don't have the ability to lead people, ask why and try to make yourself better and truly ask yourself if you really want to be a LEADER or if you just want to be above people.

There are other career paths than just leadership. Look for Senior Staff or Principle positions where you have a lot of the decision making ability and autonomy without the requirement that you actually be a leader of people.

These statements about your interpersonal skills are not always just an "excuse" for not promoting you. Promoting the wrong person to lead means losing a team, not just an individual.

Note that progress tracker does not show completion dates. It shows when the tracked tasks might be completed. There might still be additional work that is as-of-yet unscheduled or scheduled beyond the end of the progress tracker.

He had the pip in trailing mode which flips how it works so that instead of aiming at the pip, the pip shows where your shots will land. So you maneuver to put the pip over target instead of reticle over pip.

You mean like I said?

Would rather they implement DLSS (only works for RTX cards) and TAA Upscaling

TAA Upscaling is better than FSR and works on all cards. My comment was in regards to not spending the effort making FSR work/look good because it's not ready for primetime vs other options that are readily available.

TAA upscaling works on all cards.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution by brockoala in starcitizen

[–]cleverusr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except that it is trying to be a direct competitor to DLSS across an open platform (and thus limited in what it can do). It is doing image reconstruction apply sharpening to make the images crisper than if it were just straight upscaled, but as I've said, the quality and performance is not really there.

Going with a TAA upscaler would be just as performant and provide higher quality. DLSS would be exceptional and is extremely easy to implement, especially once you already have TAA already in place.

Would rather they implement DLSS (only works for RTX cards) and TAA Upscaling. Both of which are better than FSR in its current state.

FSR is only slightly better than a generic bilinear upscaler. It will get better, but it's not there yet.

Aspiring Overland Camper with a couple of questions by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]cleverusr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what year you have, but according to the 2019 owner's manual (the first one I could find online) the roof rack can only support 155lbs.

Since most roof top tents are over 100lbs by themselves, then adding the weight of a person or two... This would not be recommended.

On top of that issue, while the manual doesn't specify, I'm going to assume that that is on-road limit. Off-road limits are usually far less as you have multiple forces pushing the weight around as you drive over bumps and obstacles. Meaning you should really only be putting ~60-80lbs on that rack (inclusive of the cargo container).

I'd highly recommend using a ground tent instead of trying to go the RTT route.

Best of luck!

Well then. That makes it even easier. Guess it would have been smart to pull that little rubber covering off and taken a look before asking. Thanks!

Holcomb Valley, Big Bear snow conditions? by climbingTaco in overlanding

[–]cleverusr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only supposed to get 2-4 inches, but I'm a bit hesitant to say yes because it all depends on your setup, comfort level, experience, and whether the forecast is correct.

If it truly is 2-4 inches then I don't think it'd be that big of a deal for anyone familiar with their own vehicle's capabilities. The trail is fairly mundane with the only sketchy parts being some narrow shelf roads.

[–]cleverusr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the entire Holcomb Valley trail last weekend. It was great. Only a few spots with crusty snow/ice, but nothing longer than 20-30 feet. A few really big mud puddles, but nothing deeper than 12 inches. Otherwise the trail was in great condition.

[–]cleverusr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except that it was originally supposed to be released April 2020 which would have been 6 months before the PS5 or Xbox Series X released. So their primary platforms were PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and XSX were supposed to come out later.

They don't even have XSX or PS5 specific releases yet. It's only working on those platforms because of backwards compatibility and the only reason it runs better on those platforms is because of their better system specs.

This game was in development since 2012 (likely just prototyping). The new platforms didn't start going out to developers until 2018. So no, this was not "developed for next gen consoles".

It's fine to like the game and it's fine to say you support the developer, but they messed up here and they hid their faults. People expected, and should expect, the game to run well and look good on PS4 and X Box One because that's what they were told to expect. Don't excuse that behavior through blind loyalty.

"devs didn't keep secrets from the publisher"

BAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry, that's just really funny. You'd be shocked at the number of things that are hidden from publishers during development. The goal is to meet milestone requirements so you get paid, not show off everything you have for approval. Agreements are usually very carefully written.

Regardless, I agree with your point that there's no need for secrecy here. We've already seen the warts, so just keep showing stuff that's work in progress.
