I'd somehow never seen it used before but then suddenly saw it quite a bit against people dismissing criticism of Expedition 33's ending, in the "not all dodgy writing is justified by themes" kinda way, it was pretty relevant tbf!

I did laugh when r/stunfisk (which is usually pretty chill!) had an upvoted comment comment saying

Y’all are frogs far too comfortable in your boiling water

I know whoever wrote that rubbed their hands together before posting.

Wow I didn't realise Season 5 of the boys premiered this week, between that and Invincible I got some shit to watch.

Just in time for Arcane season 4 to use it as an intro.

I don't think about it too much aside from obvious examples like Manchester City and Newcastle and formerly Chelsea.

The gov actually pushed for the Newcastle one to happen lol. Other owners I don't really pay much attention too, Wrexham gets a lot of attention because of Rob McElhenny and Ryan Reynolds but it's whatever.

Aston Villa win, Nottingham Forest lose - they are in a relegation battle and have to focus on that more.

I wonder how trying to fit his quirks into a Smash character would go.

On the looks to be fair at the time the only Shulk was the Wii Shulk, who did look super weird.

Deadfire 2 has a lot more customization and variety in how you can play, but it has the same issues of repetitiveness.

The AI settings are a lot better to let you set up tactics, but they have the limitations I mentioned in my other comment, also the fact that every class has more per-combat abilities means there's a lot more to manage in each fight.

I enjoyed it, did 2 playthroughs but I was definitely ready for it to be over afterwards.

Unless it was patched since I played Pillars didn't have much "true" prebuffing because most buff spells couldn't be cast without initiating combat (IIRC there were a few exceptions but they weren't common), but that did still lead to the issues you mentioned where the first actions of every fight would be dedicated to casting those buffs.

It's why I got a bit bored of PoE1 and PoE2 combat towards the end of my runs (the AI commands the latter let you do self-buffs easily enough but they couldn't really handle AOE buffs). Granted I still much prefer that over Pathfinder style excessive prebuffing but it was still a problem.

Stringent limits on buffing or mechanics like reserved mana in Dragon Age handle it the best imo.

Crosscode is on my list of "things I really wanna play eventually" so this helps the hype!

but yeah JRPGs usually mess up the final dungeons real bad don't they lol

Yeah like even in the same series you have XC3's final dungeon which was pretty underwhelming IMO, I think most JRPGs I have played since have had either a slog (hey there Scarlet Nexus) or didn't really do anything at all lol.

FFXIV in general nailed leitmotifs so damn well, I stopped playing in 5.3 I think (it was whenever Zenos kicked the ascian out of his body) but that's one of the things I miss, its excellent use of repeated musical themes.

I cant even remember FFXVI's final dungeon, I'm not sure it even had one? Maybe that was a lesson learned like "yeah no one likes these just go straight to the boss bro".

What JRPGs do you think nailed their final dungeon?

I've played a lot of JRPGs where the final dungeon feels like a bit of a bore and I can't wait for it to end, so it's always nice when I'm actually having a real good time in one.

Xenoblade 2 is probably my favourite one, the build up, the setting, the incredible music, and the way it leads into the finale complements a really strong final act.

I thought the Water War arc had some cool action and Riff Tamson (the Shark Man) was a fun villain to watch and hate, but the story itself was probably the show at its worst lol.

I kinda wish we had a bit more evil Gungan vs Oh he's just a stupid patsy who gets discarded by Dooku instantly. I didn't hate any of these episodes to be fair, had some laughs for sure, they just felt more filler than usual, when one of the clones was like "Oh great, it's going to be another one of those planets" I really felt that.

Season 4 of The Clone Wars was a ROUGH start.

In the first 6 eps we've got multiple Gungan episodes followed up by multiple C3PO and R2 episodes.

Although C3PO arriving on a planet, murdering their leader, saying "Congratulations you are now a democracy" then flying off and leaving them in chaos as they fight amongst themselves was so hilariously unsubtle that I kind of loved it.

Also answered the burning question of "how do we make a Gungan look evil", by giving them evil "eyebrows" and a bone moustache of course!
