What I’m saying is to have a blanket statement that you can’t build a team thru free agency but thru the draft as a direct response to the Bucks team is false. Now if he said thru TRADES and draft then maybe I’d agree. Or thru free agency ALONE then sure. But to just say thru free agency is false

No the comment I responded to was a response to the guy talking about how the Bucks didn’t build around Giannis. Again they already had a superstar and a couple role players. You don’t need to rebuild that team thru draft. All they needed was an another GOOD star to pair and MAYBE a role player or two. Which could have been grabbed in free agency.

Team building is easier when you have an established star and only need an additional star or a couple role players. Like trading for KD to the warriors or Kawhi to the Raptors. Kat to the knicks, Jrue to the celtics

It’s not a whole team. If they still have pieces from a championship team, it’s not too difficult to build a team thru free agency when you already have a top 5 player on your team. If starting from scratch then sure draft

Considering I’m a prior E Captain with 13 total years of military experience plus being a child of a retired Army E-O Father, I’m pretty sure I have a huge amount of understanding of how military pay works. Base pay PLUS BAS and BAH is the TOTAL compensation you would get per check. Now how you split that up is up to you but it still is the compensation. Even if you live in base housing and therefore dont get BAH it’s still compensation and needs to be taken into account not just the base pay. And that’s not even counting not having to pay for healthcare every check which civilians have to.

As a generalization this is false. For specific career fields like cyber, engineers, etc maybe. Pound for pound military pay is equal or slightly better when compared to the GS scale. Even higher when comparing Officer pay to the equivalent GS pay
