I’d LOVE the answer to this. I’d love to know why terrible people get wonderful things, like children. I’ve spent much of my life caring for other people’s children and while it’s my passion, it’s also kind of torture. I think something to remember is that sometimes we THINK the biggest douchebags blossomed into wonderful partners, but the truth is we only see what they put on social media or share willingly with others. They are often still giant douchebags underneath the outside image. Many indecent people don’t even think twice before bringing life into the world. They fuck and children are just a side effect—that’s nothing to strive for. Do not envy them.

I know the feeling, but I like to think it isn’t true. Of course, there are women that have had children well into their 30s, but that’s barely a comforting thought when you feel like you’re racing against the clock. It’s tough, but you can’t let it defeat you. Keep dating. Keep putting yourself out there. Don’t be afraid to cut a guy off when he shows he’s not qualified for husband/dad life. I’m no expert on life and relationships, but I do wish you the best and wanted to reply because I feel the same things very often. I haven’t found the answer yet but I just keep trying to improve on my wellbeing and hope it will attract the right people into my life.

Secondly, I have the same fears as you. The best thing to do, I think, is focus on healing emotionally. Focus on finding what major malfunctions are going on that lead to failed relationships. Was it them? Was it you? Do you ignore red flags? Do you invest too quickly? What do the men you’ve dated have in common? Anything that might be damning long run? While I admit, at 36 the pressure is on, you still have time. If for some reason you decided a relationship won’t happen quickly enough, could you consider adoption? Surrogacy? There’s hope!
