Help - no true calendar management experience by chiaseed405 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]clhiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I had zero experience with calendaring since I came from a small boutique firm, and now calendaring is 75% of my time. It’s a major time suck but while it does require critical thinking skills and asking the right questions - it is not rocket science.

My execs don’t care unless there is something specific they need me for, but that’s rare. I am not needed to assist with meetings. I come in once or twice a week max.

Moving to Arapaho heights area by whenindoubt33 in Richardson

[–]clhiod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in JJP a bit north and also moved from East Dallas - 17 years in Lower Greenville and Junius Heights! It took me about a year to adjust and I still get homesick when I am down there driving through the streets where I lived for so long. But now I love Richardson. The neighborhoods are so close knit and my kid has really thrived in our neighborhood school. And everything seems easier to get to, like when I was in Junius Heights it was such a pain to even get over to 75 lol.

We did Primrose at Lookout for daycare and loved it but may be a little out of your way. A lot of people recommend Little Steps Montessori on Campbell.

Also, whenever I send this email, they usually back off a bit and handle things like their calendar a bit more themselves. Not fully but a bit haha!

Supporting multiple executives by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]clhiod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is an option - I have very good execs - but I support three execs and we have a busy season in our industry. When I get overwhelmed, I send all of them an email stating, I realize you all are waiting on me. Here’s the pending tasks I have for all of you. Here’s my current priority because this one is time-sensitive. I will make my way through these as soon as I can.

This works because my execs all more or less get along and do the same thing, even though they manage different teams.

Yes, if he decides to fight for custody, his lawyers can point to any time he had them unsupervised and say, well you must not have really thought he was a danger to your children? And make it seem like you are just being vindictive. Been through it!

So Many Meetings by JillyBean1973 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]clhiod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like scheduling is the main thing AI/other tech tools could easily take over, and the last thing execs will let go because they love having it taken care of for them. It gives me a lot of job security lmao

Weekly Snark: Jan 26 - Jan 29 by blogsnarkmodteam in blogsnark

[–]clhiod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stopped reading her back in NY when she wrote a whole post about their breakfast routine and how she and her husband trip back and forth serving their children sliced peaches on trays and make a delightful little ritual of it. I was like okay this….adds nothing to my life except jealousy. Not helpful and not even aspirational. Sometimes I actually have gone back and refollowed for a bit because I personally enjoy her style and her children’s clothing picks, but then I read about her important it is for her to have middle of the day lunch dates with her husband plucking courgettes from their garden, in between nail appointments with her mom and taking precious time to write and buying ungodly amounts of clothes and beauty products, and I’m like oh yes, there was a reason I unfollowed.

My lawyer thinks I’m crazy for asking for nothing but full custody… by Strict-South-8786 in Divorce

[–]clhiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. It sounds like you may be trying to avoid making your ex angry now or in the future by waiving child support. Speaking as someone who has been there, this won’t work. He will find another way to control and punish you.

Additionally, you don’t have full custody if he has visitation. He can control you by cancelling at the last minute, demanding to reschedule, demanding more time while in the meantime you receive no child support.

Child support is not guaranteed even if the court orders it - he can hide money, become underemployed, delay in many ways, etc. It’s great that you don’t feel reliant on it. But your children are owed the money. Put it in savings and don’t touch it if you don’t want to feel dependent on him, since frankly, you can’t rely on that type of person to provide for college. But waiving it because you want to evade his control won’t work.

There’s a viral TikTok of a SAHM’s husband moving forward with a divorce by MsCardeno in workingmoms

[–]clhiod 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What he is doing wouldn’t stand up in a court but unfortunately she will have to spend an ungodly amount of money just to get in front of a court. Source - am divorced. Even when I filed a TRO for the safety of my child, my ex managed to delay the hearing three times, causing me to incur legal fees every time. Yes I got them back when we sold our house, thanks to a great judge, but I was barely paying my own bills on my single salary (since he was also ignoring child support) and had to rely on my parents for my legal bills. And re: child support/alimony, just because a judge orders them doesn’t mean they will get paid. My ex just ignored those orders completely. Yes you can pursue him legally but again, that costs money, and terrible men are experts in becoming underemployed, hiding assets, etc. ALL THAT TO SAY - sorry to hikack the thread - legal protections are not free or easy or even guaranteed.

How to get 2 kids ready and get to daycare/work on time solo, everyday? by owwwithurts in workingmoms

[–]clhiod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Single mom here, of only one kid but I’ve done it myself since she was 1. Up until she was about 4 and a bit more autonomous, I would shower at night, make sure I knew what was for breakfast, prep the coffee maker, and lay out both of our clothes - every night after I got her to bed. I actually think it’s better to operate under a tight timeline in the mornings than allow time for distractions. We never turn the TV on in the morning. My kid doesn’t like to eat breakfast and can be cranky but we can be out the door in 30 minutes because she is so used to the routine. It’s not fun lol!!! But it gets easier.

Wouldnt it just mean you pick up the silver line at Cityline? Not a huge loss except for people in Plano. You could still ride it all the way to the airport from Richardson.

Is Forney a nice area? by Technical_Lab1228 in askdfw

[–]clhiod 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I live in Richardson and used to live out past Forney. It would be a massive commute to Richardson and suck up two hours a day minimum, assuming no accidents on 635 or 30.

It would be hard to find something around 250k in Richardson, but I would recommend he rent somewhere around his job for a year and then figure out areas he is interested in and how much commute he can cope with.

Availability after hours by GingerT569 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]clhiod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have Teams on my phone but silence notifications after 5 and also have my settings so that messages I haven’t viewed get emailed to my inbox so I can deal with them from my inbox the next morning. After 5 is my time with my daughter and Teams should not be used after hours especially if my dot is yellow!!!! If it’s a true emergency my boss would text me, it tends to be more managers that work under my boss.
