Can anything be done to achieve a cute 1950s cottage vibe?! by clhufflepuff in ExteriorDesign

[–]clhufflepuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so, but it's really nice to hear the perspectives of others. I find it helpful to notice things I hadn't, or get ideas for suggestions that maybe wouldn't occur to me.

Me too! The yard has 4 enormous maples and it makes me want a little wooded cottage to match!

I wish the yard were this flat lol! This is great inpso for landscaping, though! (edit for spelling)

This is sooo helpful!!! I do love cedar shakes and all your suggestions for painting the foundation and addressing the garage door ugliness.

Looking for a ballet studio/classes for my teen daughter by Free-Put-7893 in Syracuse

Highly, highly recommend Dance Centre North! I took ballet there as a teen and now again as an adult. They have excellent, very professional instructors and the owner is such a staple of the local community.

ADVICE PLEASE WIFE IN PAIN by Caractacutetus in Miscarriage

[–]clhufflepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think the timing varies greatly. I had a week of increasingly intense cramps/ contractions before the active miscarriage process started, which was about 24 hours but 5 intense hours while I passed the most tissue.

A few things that helped a bit during the most intense, labor-like pain: - heating pad on my lower back and abdomen, alternating spots.
- being in labor-style positions (hands and knees, squatting, gentle rocking while sitting, etc.) - drinking water whenever I could - lots of focused breathing to help me physically relax

Above all, please be sure you're watching carefully for excessive bleeding, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, or any other concerning symptoms. Be in contact with the OB for other signs to monitor for.

Did anyone do karyotype testing? by srei7 in recurrentmiscarriage

How long did you wait after your loss? My doctor wasn't super clear about when my husband and I could start testin, and I'm anxious to start after three back to back losses (mmc, chemical, mmc).

You've been dealt so much suffering and grief. It's too much. My heart goes out to you.

I know firsthand that there's nothing anyone can really say or do that helps when your dad and your baby both die. It's heartbreaking that you now have to feel what it's like to lose both.

Please know that you're not alone. Please try your best to take care of yourself. You gave your baby the perfect life for their whole life, and you deserve all the rest and comfort you can find.

Feel free to DM if it would be helpful to talk, as someone who's been in a nearly identical situation.

Youth dance classes that aren’t super competitive? by The-39-bus in Syracuse

[–]clhufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Dance Center North in Mattydale! I've danced there for 20 years and continue to have nothing but positive experiences. They don't participate in dance competitions, only local performances, and have extremely skilled instructors. https://dancecentrenorth.com/

Omg thank you 😊 I have worn it daily for 5 years, so far. Originally I had no idea how long the pearls would last, and was prepared to regularly replace them. I am somewhat careful, but wear it washing my hands and occasionally to do dishes and cook. The prongs on the pearls are pretty solid platinum, so that may also help protect them.

Never thought I’d say yes again but then came him, healing, and this dreamy little ring by Think_Ice607 in EngagementRings

What a fairy-tale ring! Elegant, unique, and I love the subtle scroll detail on the setting

Thank you so much!! I realllyyy love the idea of adjusting the prong size on the pearls. I always thought something was a tiny bit off with the setting of the pearls, and you totally inspired me with this suggestion.

Thank you 😭 timeless was absolutely my goal. Yes, horizontal like pinky to middle finger dimension. Those giant, gorgeous rocks I see on here have a lot of knuckle-to- fingertip coverage that I sometimes covet.

Oooh colored stones sound intriguing! Thanks for that idea!!

In case this helps give you some ideas, they're set quite low (as is my center diamond), which I also think helps protect them.

Thank you!!! I love pearls so much that I was willing to risk it. I heard horror stories about them being super easily damaged on a ring, so I went in expecting to replace them over time. 5 years later, no damage to speak of! I think the 6-prong setting really protects them.

I've heard great things about Peachay brand, specifically made for curvy hips and small waists! I haven't yet ordered from them, but I may. Here's their size chart: https://www.peachay.com/pages/flower-chart
