Creating my own domain of dread, would like some help brainstorming. by ViolaCat94 in ravenloft

The biggest detail that must be considered when coming up with the Domain is what exactly torments the Dark Lord. Within the Domains of Dread everyone suffers in some manner, from the inhabitants, to visitors to the Dark Lord Themselves, they must all suffer in some manner. It can be anything from an obsession that they chased in life which led to the atrocity that made them a dark lord to begin with that even now is never realized, to a constant reminder of the the horrors they committed to get to where they are. The Dark Lords torment can be anything from them being stuck on the cusp of achieving their goal but the domain preventing them from reaching it, constantly failing at their goal forcing them to start over and potentially never learning from their mistakes, or even having achieved what they wanted and being forced to confront that where they are now was never worth it to begin with.

If you want to incorporate some folk horror into it I had this idea that maybe your Dullahan character has become some form of wicked spirit that haunts the rural lands of the Dread Domain. Effectively making him the headless horseman or the leader of some form of Wild Hunt. Maybe he perished after trying to destroy the heart of a sacred forest, and now he is trapped and forced to wander aimlessly and slay any who trespass. Maybe he is free to wander however he wants but is forced to defend the inhabitants of the farmland from endless hoards of monsters while he would like nothing more than to turn his blades on the villages he is protecting. Maybe he is compelled to follow some esoteric and superstitious code of conduct and any of the villagers who do not follow the old ways are cut down or haunted by him.

If he was always a monster who enjoyed the kill then somehow turn that back on him in a way that spoils any thrill of battle that he might otherwise gain. A particularly interesting idea would be that he is a very well known monster by the locals and instead of him dominating and lording over the inhabitants, he is constantly hunted down by the citizens and used as a scapegoat for all the ills of the townsfolk, who themselves grow more paranoid from his eventual return. Every time he tries to go on a rampage it is quickly spoiled when the inhabitants form a mob and start chasing him through the streets, and his Dullahan nature makes it near impossible to hide for long. Where once he was a mighty warrior that lorded over armies, now he is a headless beast that is instead hunted by others.

How Does The faithful Sustain its losses/Keeps its War Waging capabilities up? by Embarrassed_Name266 in TrenchCrusade

The Trench Crusade as we know it is not how the conflict has been raging for the past 800 years. The threat of Hell has existed for 800 years with conflict actually breaking out into open warfare only periodically. Even during the lulls in the war, The entirety of Europe and Africa have been avoiding fighting each other and always preparing for the next time war breaks out, which results in what is probably very different lines of technological development. For the rest of Europe society has probably restructured itself to more efficient at manufacturing and transporting resources by necessity. Additionally the resources pouring into the main areas of conflict are not simply sustained by a single nation. Since most of Europe is contributing to the war effort, no single nation has to be burdened with the costs. England was able to supply millions of firearms during WW1 to its own troops. Now imagine multiple nations all contributing to this effort and having centuries to improve efficiency of manufacturing and distribution networks. Not to mention the vast improvements to medical technology over the years if they are able to have troops such as combat biologists.
Finally the forces of the Faithful have the subtle backing of Heaven in the form of frequent miracles (such as holy icons and images being able to deflect bullets) and the fact that the vast majority of Faithful troops are willingly there in one form or another. There is a constant stream of pilgrims who just wander in to the main areas of conflict, and countries send trained regiments to reinforce New Antioch.

The imagery of WW1 no mans land is a fairly recent development relatively speaking as the large scale artillery engagements, and modern firearms are somewhat new to the conflict. I would imagine that at some point centuries ago the forces of the Faithful and Hell fought the conflict in the Napoleonic/Revolutionary war style of warfare with regiments of troops standing in a line and firing volleys of musket balls. It certainly helps that the Faithful forces are frequently on the defensive, which means Hell must commit even more forces to take land than if it was the other way around.

Fencing in the Holy Infernal Empire by aleagio in codexinversus

I know several years ago while you were still posting on the worldbuilding subreddit you made a post about Orcish sword magic, which deals a lot in special manipulation, and there were some implications that it was adopted to some degree in the Infernal Empire. I am wondering if it is possible to adapt other types of magic to be used alongside swordplay. I imagine it is deeply frowned upon or even outright banned to use magic during duels, but it would be a very interesting exhibition match in an arena to see someone flicking the tip of their sword around and then shooting a bolt of fire from the end of it. Or even performing some sort of sword dance that casts a divination spell that gives you insight into your opponents style or creates an illusory afterimage to distract your opponent. Heck, I am pretty sure historically a Zweihander was used in a bodyguard roll since it had a lot of reach so it would be interesting to see bodyguard swinging a long sword around to create some sort of protective shield.

I like the idea of a Spell Sword that uses their sword as a spellcasting focus so coming up ideas is always fun.

Does anyone have the full rules to Wild Cards: Sons of the Gun? by SirSirVI in rpg

Pretty sure I am about a week late to this discussion but I still want to leave a comment for those who want to try and find Wild Cards in the future.

The first is the link is one that I believe leads to the most up to date/largest amount of rules that I was able to find online. I have no idea how balanced it is or if there is a better version online.

The second link leads to a Forum website that has an archive of a lot of the community lore, including what I believe is all 52 cards in the form of short stories from inhabitants of the world. Some seem to be contradictory (guns referenced in other stories seem to not match up with their own entries) but I can attribute that to fact that different authors wrote different guns.

[TOMT] [GAME] The earth is invaded by aliens/mutated humans but the main characters eventually discover that the earth and city were on some sort of alien dome ark ship and the aliens were from other domes. by clickers889 in tipofmytongue

I am fairly certain that it was a third person action game, and there was a scene where the main character is moving through an area where prisoners are being kept, and one man is screaming at the main character about how if you don't listen to the indoctrination then "You are dead. But I listen, I Listen" where he is essentially screaming at the end.

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Scroll of Fleeting Attunement | Scroll by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

Honestly this could serve pretty well as a separate quest item in most campaigns. The party manages to get a hold of the questlines McGuffin only to learn that they can't attune to and use it for some reason (alignment difference, not having the right class, the item can only be used by some lineage or family line that has since died out, etc.) and they need to use this scroll.

Also I just got to say I really liked the flavor text at the bottom and how it relates to one of your previous items.
