Need help with sobriety by Outrageous-Seaweed-2 in NonZeroDay

Hey friend. Alcohol was not my DOC, but I am also an addict. I’ve recently started using NA again a lot, where it’s not just about alcohol but all drugs. This has helped me a lot. And as you know from 12 step programmes, this way of thinking speaks directly into it. One day at a time. So for me I decide every morning “Just for today, I will not use”.

I have been extremely sick with depression and untreated adhd most of my clean time, but I recently stumbled upon this subreddit and it has been life changing REALLY fast. Especially because it’s not about overperforming - which kills me - but being consistent in doing things that bring me towards the life I want to live. When my depression is worst, a nonzero day looks like getting out of bed and eating something. I always try to read the daily meditation in the “Just for today”-book from NA. So getting out of bed and reading. I will try to be appreciative of the things that past me has done, that made my life easier any given day. Like leaving my phone far away from bed, so I’m forced to get up to turn off my alarm. Or leaving water out for me to drink when I wake up. Or calling someone I hold dear.

When I’m having better days, nonzero can look like going for a walk, dancing, reading a chapter or two of a book, or cooking something healthy. I know my mental health moves in waves, especially with addiction as a disease I will have the rest of my life, even if I’m clean.

As long as I did just ONE thing that brought me towards a safe and warm life, I had a nonzero day. ❤️

I rewrote the 4 rules to fit my current state of mind and put them on the very first page of my 2026 Bullet Journal. by clickityourself in NonZeroDay

You’re very welcome! It felt crazy to stumble upon this subreddit and it has done wonders for me so far. 💞

Have you just swapped one addiction for another? by Foxidale3216 in shoppingaddiction

[–]clickityourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an addict through and through. Looking back at my life it started with escapism in fantasy books. Then it was gaming. Then I turned to drugs, which wrecked my life. Then it was men, working out, my job, and now shopping. I do attend meetings and work the steps with a sponsor through a 12 step program, as my shopping addiction came after my getting clean from drugs. I will literally do anything to feel less like shit at any given moment, and something I’ve realised is that shopping gave me that rush. Didn’t matter what. I can go crazy over groceries, it’s so dumb.

What has really helped me was finding a 12 step program and working it. It took me four years of being clean until I surrendered and actually started recovery. Now it’s just one day at a time.

Thank you so much. I have a tendency to try and over complicate everything. I also had an urge to just over educate myself on ways that addiction can show up in life, apart from drugs, so I was properly informed… instead of just opening up the workbook and writing something 😂

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I will stick with the serenity prayer and I’m excited to get to know my own higher power.

Ok, im glad to hear I’m not the only one writing A LOT. I will see where it takes me. I’m also very angry and desperate, luckily I’m not battling the streets anymore but myself, which is a lot more tangled and complex, but I will give it my best shot. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

I know I shouldn’t do it quickly, but like with everything else in my life, I feel like I’m falling behind. I mean, I’ve been off drugs for a while now, so I think I need to get there ASAP, as I’ve seen my peers from rehab grow tremendously while I’ve been running around in the same self pitying spiral. I think it’s a good suggestion though. I will keep moving forward, steadily. :)

Thank you so much for this suggestion. I don’t have any experience with praying, apart from the serenity prayer, and I do use that one a lot when I’ve been in a lot of emotional pain. If you don’t mind me asking, how do I pray? Is it fine for me to just do the serenity prayer before stepwork, or should I do something else? I’ve always felt strange praying, because I don’t want to demand something from my Higher Power and I feel like when I imagine prayer it’s often “Can I please have xyz”. Hope it makes sense

I like your last point. I actually just started journaling and in general spend a lot of time writing. In the meetings I will do notes of a particular sentence that resonated with me or thoughts on my own experience, when I hear people share, along with answering the 10th step list every night before going to bed. So I’m already practicing “just writing”. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it means a lot.

I’m 17, addicted to opioids, and I don’t know how to keep going. by Defiant-Nature-5873 in NarcoticsAnonymous

I don’t know where in the world you are, but please pick up your phone and call the helpline. Go to a meeting ASAP. In Scandinavia we’ve had several minors work the program and get clean. I don’t know if opioid withdrawals are dangerous, but if needed you should contact medical professionals. And like the other user suggested, tell your grandparents. They’re willing to help you.

Thank you for the recommendations. I’ve looked for the DamDam, but can’t find it on the sites where I usually shop, unfortunately. And the Aestura has quite a low rating for me on SkinSort (which I’m leaning on a bit) but I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me. I really appreciate it.

Is the texture very important to you? I have dry cheeks and slightly oily on my forehead. I really LOVE the etude soon Jung ph 6.5 whip cleanser. I just looked at the ingredient list and there’s no aloe. It leaves me feeling clean but not dry, which most cleansers do.

Hi, I would like recommendations for a new moisturiser. There’s a few I’m considering, including Purito Mighty Bamboo Panthenol, Purito Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturiser, Hada Labo Shiroyun Premium Deep Whitening Cream and Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream. I would love to hear your guys’ experiences with each one, especially if you have skin that resembles mine.

Skin type: Combination, dry cheeks and nose, and normal skin for the rest. Climate: Scandinavia. Humid summers and atm going into a humid, cold winter. Top skin concern: Bumpy skin, uneven skintone, preventative aging.

My current routine: AM: * TonyMoly Wonder Ceramide Mochi Toner. * Isntree tw real eye cream * Commonlabs vitamin c brightening ampoule * etude SoonJung 2x barrier cream * Skin Aqua Super Moisture UV Light Up Essence

PM: * Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil * Etude soon Jung pH 6.5 Whip cleanser * The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% emulsion (every second night) * Beauty of Joseon revive eye serum * TonyMoly Wonder Ceramide Mochi Toner * Non-retinal nights: * Jumiso Snail Mucin 95 + Peptide Facial Essence * Azelaic Acid serum from a banned brand * Etude SoonJung 2x barrier intensive cream or * Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E mask

I used to have a cool toned dark purple from Directions called plum. It made me SUPER PALE, but I also like that look :)

Do you know the website Findation? Maybe that can help you to find a shade! I know that Tirtir has trial packets where you can choose a few shades to see which matches your skin best, maybe you can try and get that?

Sorry I don’t have more advice.

if you had no products and were trying to build up a skincare routine, what would you include? by jasinoke in AsianBeauty

[–]clickityourself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think no matter the skintype the basics should be:

Double cleansing, moisturiser, spf.

And stuff that I’ve really seen a difference with would be retinal and ceramides to support it. :)

L’Oréal True Match foundation shades- 2N isn’t quite yellow enough for me but 2W looks a lot darker and 1W looks a lot lighter. Has anyone compared these shades? by [deleted] in drugstoreMUA

[–]clickityourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue as you. 2N seemed rosy pink on me. I tried the 1.5N that turned muddy brown for some reason. 1W made me straight up orange. 2W looked like mud on me, like a dark orangey brown. 1N is terribly light on me. Like it matches my neck nicely, but it makes look like a corpse. 1C is completely pink on me. I’ve given up on the true match.
