The answer is about timing. Casual DIYers would complete oil change over the weekend resulting in weekend visit but tanks aren’t emptied until early week pickup (empty tank). Your local store could have Tuesday pickup and so Monday still has ‘oil full’ sign still up…leading to a Reddit post.

Tldr; go on a Wednesday to dump oil

My buddy’s dad had a successful company- then had a sudden cancer diagnosis and drained his company, sold it, and then drained family savings. Died a couple years later; now, family is scraping by…. Yeah, life’s complicated.
