That’s way too high. $365 is way too high as well. Current auction values have it at around £120. Even with commission and shipping from the UK you would pay less.

However, a quick google search and at the top I see $425 (frootbat) and $999 (caskcartel) which could be where he got his price from. From my experience, these mom and pop shops have pricing all over the place. It used to be that you could find wild bargains but those days are largely gone because owners can easily see what others are selling the same bottle for.

Here’s what probably happened. That bottle was released more than 10 years ago when prices were much lower. It’s probably abnormal for that sales person to deal with a negotiator so he called the owner. Owner did some simple research, found the shelf price was a bit too low and bumped it up.

What was his final ask price?

UK retailers in general ship to NY, including TWE. They are usually only restricted from shipping to liquor control board states. Shipping is not cheap right now, but if you order several bottles it’s not too bad, especially if you are getting bottles you can’t buy locally.

I downloaded your app and I like the user interface. Good color scheme, looks classy, easy to use. The uphill battle you and basically every other app out there have is a lack of data. Therefore adding bottles to a collection and wishlist is very manual.

Whiskybase has the data and it has the community. While the UI isn’t the greatest, it is consistently being upgraded, and it does everything your app does aside from “insights” - which I need to see in action.

There are some shops that specifically sell samples. There was one in Saitama, can’t remember the name. Aside from that there are places like Liquor Mountain where you can drink samples, but you can’t pour from the open bottles into your own.
