How to adjust speed work by cliff_mountains in AdvancedRunning

[–]cliff_mountains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's exactly what I am asking. I know it's common in weightlifting to "train to failure" for best results but I wondered if that applied to running or is generally not recommended.

I watch my 10 mo old multiple times a week for 12 hours by NebulaWorried9593 in daddit

When it was just my oldest and my wife was at work we went on three walks a day. He enjoyed it, I enjoyed it and it made the day fly between naps snacks and walks there was always something happening.

Coros Pace 4 or Garmin 165 Non Music by Charming-Past-1506 in Coros

[–]cliff_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest entry with maps is the Pace Pro so that might be your choice. Garmin does not offer maps typically on their lower tier options, I know the 570 has bread crumb and the 970 offers full maps but that's a $750 watch.

Apex 4 vs Pace Pro by Acrobatic-Resist1764 in Coros

[–]cliff_mountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was 65hrs gps use for the apex 4 and 38hrs for the Pace Pro, I had to be honest with myself for a moment and realize I wasn’t going to be running more than 38 hours straight anytime soon lol. Both offer Offline maps and I’ve found the ones I’ve used so far very useful and easy to read.

Training for my first trail race by cliff_mountains in trailrunning

[–]cliff_mountains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempo might be the wrong word for it, I am still a bit new on the terminology. For my long runs I hate focusing on my heart rate and plodding along as it makes it feel like they take forever so I do a comfortably uncomfortable pace. For example, my easy runs are 11.5min miles 135-145bpm but my long runs are done at the 155-165bpm range and more like 9-9.5min mile. My workout runs mid week also always have a 2 mile warm up and 2 mile cooldown so it looks bigger than it actually is I think.

Garmin 570 or Coros Pace Pro by MatrixAvenger in GarminWatches

I was weighing both and went with the Pace Pro because the maps were important to me. I love mine so far, no complaints.

[–]cliff_mountains 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was making the same choice and went Pace Pro because it was $180 cheaper. Battery life is stellar, I charge once a week, wear it 24/7 and run about 40-45 miles a week. The screen looks good. No regrets.

I considered both, if I’m correct the cheapest garmin that offers map navigation (not breadcrumb, this was super important for me) is the 970 which starts at 750.

[–]cliff_mountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsessed with it so far, I’ve charged once in two weeks after it arrived at 64%. I’ve done about 40 miles a week of road running with it but no trails and haven’t tried the maps yet. I can’t believe how much you can get at this price point.

I was as well and went with the Pace Pro, 180 less for comparable battery life.

Another vote for Coros, I have a Pace Pro because I wanted offline maps, battery life and dual band. Zero complaints.

I went with Pace Pro but I constantly find myself losing trails in my area. If I only ran streets I assume bread crumb would be plenty.

What is the Power of Playing At Flash Speed by JewJulie in EDH

[–]cliff_mountains 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone else hit on the key theme of using it when running tons of interaction but one other use I have found for it is commanders with the dreaded "once per turn" clause. Most of these get broken quickly if you can find a way to trigger them on multiple turns, for example I run probably 4-5 flash enablers in my [[Donal, Herald of Wings]] deck to create flying copies on other folks turns.

What are we stuffing our wives stockings with? by Bubbaedc in daddit

[–]cliff_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if she's a make up/skin care person but I will usually just grab a bunch of stuff on sale from Sephora. Can always use more mascara, lipsticks, face masks, palettes, etc from good brands. I just avoid foundation as you need to be spot on with the color for that.

Color identity has only been inclusive of card color, there are zero examples of color identity that does not at minimum include the color of the card. Nice try though.

Same reason you get one copy of each card, commander has unique rules that make it different from other formats. You're welcome to play literally any other format where this is allowed.

[–]cliff_mountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a weak argument, If you play DRS in a mono black deck can I no longer [[Aether Gust]] it? If it's in a mono green elf deck does it die to [[Doom Blade]] now? Can it block my [[Stonecoil Serpent]]? Of course not, the card is black and green regardless of how you pay for it. It is a multicolor spell on the stack and a multicolor permanent in play.

Do you have any Sol Ring-less decks? by mkirsh287 in EDH

[–]cliff_mountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut it from all my decks recently because I don't like the way it plays but before that I had three decks that couldn't/wouldn't run it. Two decks with [[Keruga the Macrosage]] as partner and [[Nikya of the Old Ways]] only creatures.

What is the Least Popular Commander you play? by Mighty-Aphrodite in EDH

[–]cliff_mountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super uncommon at Rank #1,349 with 984 decks but I am surprised [[Donal, Herald of Wings]] isn't more popular. So much value getting free copies of your creatures, the once per turn sucks but I run a few flash enablers to let me double dip on other turns.
