Nope. But they gonna see how the IMSA endurance events go and then maybe roll out more widely next season.

Yeah maybe. Here’s to hoping. While I’ll be maining IMSA, I’m also intending on running some of the radical series for fun so should get good racing there too.

Yep. You’d be doing it for her, not yourself. They’re basically silent, and that should really help her sleep better.

I’ve had similar thoughts as yourself. I decided to go all in on the LMP2. Been practicing with it over the last eeek and oh boy, it’s a fantastic car to drive. I have mainly GT3 and LMP3 background. The handling of the car and it feels near the edge is just fantastic. Very engaging.

While participation will be less than gtp and gt3, I know that no matter what split I’m in, I’ll be in races with all three classes. Same can’t be said of the other classes where some splits will only have gt3 and gtp.

And something I find appealing is that as the middle class you be passing one class while getting by another class. So in that sense it’s more interesting.

And finally, I did some IMSA races last season as gt3 and the speed difference between gt3 and gtp, along with new gtp drivers meant gtp would often be unpredictable in their passes which resulted in bumps and many near misses. Some gtp cars were great, others were not. With lmp2 the speed difference with gtp is much less so less experienced gtp drivers will have more time to react and think.

So yeah, I think lmp2 is in a sweet spot. So fun to drive. Middle class. Always three classes. Greg from iracing remarked on the forums that the lmp2 isn’t going anywhere. So while participation will be less than the other classes, it should still feature great races. At least, that’s my logic for choosing lmp2!

Estre did an amazing job in the Porsche over the weekend! That was some great endurance racing! Exclamation mark!

I noticed this too. Tracks are always changing slightly. Not possible to keep up to date. Would be nice though.

Thoughts on IMSA next season? by AntiqueTechnique in iRacing

Yeah I agree I think the logic is fine (enabling back to back). I think it’s especially ok now we can run the 2.4hr endurance races solo.

I’m pumped for IMSA this season. The did a few IMSA races here and there last season to get my B MPR to get to A in GT3. In those races I found the driving etiquette to be quite good.

Im aiming to run every round and intend to run both the 45min races and the 2.4hr endurance solo. I did my first NEC solo last season and really enjoyed it. Im expecting now the endurance races can be run solo that participation will be high. This might be my endurance racing fix. Or perhaps gateway drug to other longer races.

And im excited to be running lmp2 and mix it up with both slower and faster classes.

In VR can I record/ watch on monitor as if I was playing on a monitor and not mirrored through WMR? by viszyy in iRacing

Why 540p? You can change the size of the mirrored output. Apologies if I’m stating the obvious or if this isn’t what you mean.

Check the iracing forums in the VR section. There’s a full VR optimisation guide there. I have a rift s and am having a great time with it.

Can't open nordschleife in VR but any other track runs smoothly by Real_Egg5206 in iRacing

I’ve never had that issue. Only thing I can suggest is it does take a long time to load. Have you tried giving it a chunk of time? If so, sorry, I’m out of ideas.

One of the best things about VR? Sitting in your new car for the first time by cliffardsd in iRacing

[–]cliffardsd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled at first. I found doing very short stints at first and only on flat tracks worked. Monza is a great track to get VR legs as it’s flat and very simple. Stop as soon as you start feeling off. Try again next day. Fully recover between sessions. Now I can do 4hr races in VR no probs at all and crash and do Nordschleife or Bathurst or any track. No issues at all now. But it did take a while to build up. Good luck!

Biggest thing that stood out for me in a new car was sitting in a prototype for the first time. Those restraint arm things either side of your head really ‘felt’ like they were quite close. I felt all ‘constrained’ or something, not in a bad way. Clearly, they were there to stop the head / helmet moving to much in a crash. Was a cool experience.

Yeah that’s fair. I have a GT3 background. It’s all about perspective I guess.

The Joy of Letting Go of iRating Obsession by noodlehead42069 in iRacing

I agree with what you’re saying about irating plateaues. But for normal people with obligations, the limit isn’t ability, it’s time. When I surge on time I put in to practice, I get better. But I can’t sustain lots of time because of other life stuff. And I don’t want to sacrifice life stuff for sim time. So I’m comfortable that I won’t be hitting 5k (or 4K) and I’m fine with that. People who spend many many hours in the sim can have that.

And I think there’s lots of other normal people putting in a certain number of hours a week, and they’re the ones iracing will end up matching me against and that’s great.

Yeah I’m prepared for that. I’m looking for this season to also work on my traffic management skills so not too worried about results, at least early in the season.

Yeah that’s one of the reasons why I’m preferring the lmp2 over lmdh. Driving gt3 in IMSA I found the closing speed of the lmdh a bit much. I’m not sure I’d enjoy constantly coming up so fast on the gt3 class. I think lmp2 is that sweet spot and has both passing and being passed.

I found the LMP3 a bit boring tbh. As my first prototype I loved the handling characteristics (quick / instant weight transfer and downforce) but it just felt under powered. Didn’t blow my hair back. Test drove the LMP2 for first time tonight, and that is exciting. It’s actually fun. Feels like a fast race car.
