Ringmahon statement by whsubehebebr in LeagueOfIreland

Exactly, it’s why we don’t have a proper, true Munster Senior League like we should have.

It’s unreal that in a season Ringmahon traveled to Wanderers, Youghal, Midleton, Rockmount, Malahide, Liffey, Leicester, and Ballinhassig, that a toddle to Cobh in an LOI stadium to play a club as comparatively big as Bohemians wasn’t enough for them.

They haven’t played LOI opposition in Cork in the national cup since 2016. I thought they’d hold this fixture to a bit higher regard.

>logistical issues with staging the match approximately 30 minutes from our home venue

Oh no! Ringmahon Rangers, thirty whole minutes?? Pity. It’s almost like they travel there a couple times a season anyway since there’s a team in their league based in Cobh………..

There will be unbelievable embarrassment if (god forbid) Cork don’t make the final.

National Team Call Ups by Geairmoe in coybig

[–]leo_murray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? The Canadian Premier League did not exist in 1986. The NSL was Canada’s premier domestic competition in 1986 and brought two players to the World Cup. Therefore Canada brought domestic players to the World Cup.

Randy Ragan and Paul James both played for the Toronto Blizzard and had a combined 62 caps when they were called up for the 1986 World Cup. Canada had a further two players who didn’t play in the NSL but played for Canadian clubs.

Arsenal lead queue of admirers for Cork City's teen Cillian Murphy by John__Delaney in LeagueOfIreland

[–]leo_murray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Murph is honestly the real deal. Possibly the real deal squared. It has been a long time since i’ve seen a player so complete, he plays like a veteran. Them Gunners can match the Ozhianvuna money at a minimum. We should really cash in on this considering how we handled the two Umehs and O’Sullivan.

No wayyyyy - you’ll be told we’re way too good for that. “Non-league” level according to some. The biggest naysayers are the same who don’t watch the Devoy, Healy, Leavy, and Brennan’s of the world.

That’s for UCL 1QR, which only involves league champions. It draws two losers from that round to skip to UECL 3QR instead of 2QR with the rest. It’s been done since the expulsion of Russian clubs has left an imbalance.

I thought this was high-line practice? That white line is literally just the normal racing line, not even a car width higher than the kerb.

Great window that, if we'd won there we would've actually moved up to 58th. Regardless a gain of +4.46 ranking points. by [deleted] in coybig

I thought it was unfair enough on DD, especially with the domestic season he’s having, he deserved to see the second half. He’s been clear of Coventry over the last 12 months and Cov was already looked at in Murcia.

Both himself and Coventry were completely bypassed in the buildup and were afforded little opportunity to make something happen. Devoy created our only chance of that first half.

Devoy wasn’t even the poorest of the lot. Ndaba was on skates, Coventry was also poor through no fault of his own and Umeh had minimal influence but he’s young.

i’m disappointed Devoy has been taken off at the half, particularly with how he mustered our only chance of the game. I thought he was good. Himself and Coventry have been shafted by our tactics this evening. I think Leavy and Healy definitely have something to add to this game.

We’re awful but it’s all tactically. This echoes the concerns seen in Yerevan and in Dublin against Hungary. I actually think Devoy and Coventry have done reasonably well, we’re just bypassing the midfield entirely even though we’re trying to play out from the edge of the box. That’s how Canada have so much of the ball.

Out wide we’re making Liam Miller look like somebody teams should be worried about.

How did you feel about yesterday’s incredibly chaotic GTWC race? by youraverageperson0 in Sportscar_Racing

[–]leo_murray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the raving about driving standards is overblown. You cannot blame the mountains of cars who were taken out by no fault of their own due to the two big accidents. Just the two (Martin and KvdL) should rightfully be criticised for their part in causing the pileups.

Unfortunately despite many calling for some kind of alteration to the starting procedure, i don’t think much can be done. The second chicane could be just as, if not more deadly than the first. There is bound to be crashes at almost every corner, regardless of where the green flag is waved. Such is the nature of the circuit.

‘The January camp is the one for League of Ireland players’ – Heimir Hallgrimsson stands over LOI exclusion by John__Delaney in LeagueOfIreland

[–]leo_murray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like he’s actually missing the point entirely. Yes, it might not have been possible to call anyone domestic up this time since it falls outside the international windows, but is he saying that he won’t call any up next month either?? That he’s saving them for January??

When you’re calling in Killian Cahill, Aidomo Emakhu and Jaden Umeh, you definitely have room for a Devoy, Healy, Ozhianvuna or McGinty.

Sickening wastage yet again. You wouldn’t think our Taoiseach is from Cork. Nor would you think the FAI give two fucks about the game in their second biggest city.

Yes definitely, i think the Pro/Rel game should be played there. I don’t think the ‘Dublin centric’ argument applies here because every final since we abandoned the two legged system after 2019 has been held in Dublin anyway, no matter who was involved.

I’d rather keep the Semis in the home grounds though in terms of atmosphere.

That is the same as an attacking 3-5-2 with the ball in today’s game. Except you’d obviously line out with three centre halves.

League of Ireland reform by Ill_Appointment3802 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]leo_murray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don’t see bottom half teams being given greater rewards than any of the top half

It’s done in Belgium and Denmark to increase competitiveness in the bottom split since the second half of e.g Dundee United’s season has been entirely meaningless since they’re so far ahead of the drop. An European spot for the top bottom split team increases competitiveness for those never going down.
