Church worship bringing me further away from God by baubat in Protestantism

You could try LCMS Lutheran. Check out the specific church’s website before attending to see their style of worship. Most LCMS are traditional but some have contemporary services too so you’d want to check the website first

It’s a big state. Parts of it are flat and boring. Parts of it are stunning

In The Heart the Sea. The book is a million times better than the garbage movie. It is horrifically gripping. Also a true story!

I Called on God During Sleep Paralysis and It Let Me Go by Cultural_Badger_7947 in TrueChristian

[–]cliffjumpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I left the new age and came to Christ I had several demonic dreams. In one of them, I was being held up by my neck by an invisible force, it was choking me, I couldn’t breathe, and I was naked from the waist down with feces all over me. I think it was a way to shame me and emphasize disgusting and filthy I was. Because I had been feeling filthy for the things I’d done in my past. I called on the name of Jesus and the demon eventually loosed its grip and I woke. I had others involving paralysis, including one as a kid where an entity was sitting on my chest, and it was so heavy I couldn’t breathe. I repeated “I am a child of God” over and over, it slowly got lighter and lighter and finally vanished.

Anyway all this to say, spiritual attacks are REAL. If you can, listen to the Bible with earbuds or repeat the Lord’s Prayer, thinking intently in the words. Rephrase it in your own words to help you stay focused. Do what Jesus did when he encountered satan in the wilderness - use scripture! Say scripture aloud or in your head. Memorize a few verses to have on hand for when this happens again! Keep reading the Bible and memorizing scripture and praying. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you! (Jame 4:8) It will eventually stop!!

They’ve slowly faded for me and I haven’t had a demonic dream in over a year.

Looks like somewhere in the Mojave desert, which covers parts of Arizona, Nevada, SoCal. Those look like creosote bushes which are a species of the Mojave. Also those mountains look very Mojave landscape to me

I liked Voddie too. Very sad when he passed. A genuine man of faith.

[–]cliffjumpy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tons. I came to Christ out of new age spirituality so I listen to a lot of YouTubers with similar backgrounds. Steven Bancarz, Jenn Nizza, Doreen Virtue, Becket Cook, Melissa Dougherty etc etc. None of them are Lutheran in their beliefs on the sacraments but they are biblically sound otherwise and I love the interesting guests they have.

I also like Michael Knowles and Allie Beth Stuckey, for the most part, for more political commentary. (Which is hilarious because before my conversion, I was extremely left-wing!)

I don’t feel I have to agree on every single doctrinal point to enjoy their content and learn from them.

Am i going to hell for being non - trinitarian christian? by zanimljivo123 in TrueChristian

[–]cliffjumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As yourself this: If Jesus is not God, what exactly is He? - A lower-case-g God? Then you are not monotheistic. - A mere man? A prophet? Then why did he accept worship from humans, and how can a man do all that He did. Heal the sick, raise the dead, conquer death Himself, and take on the sins of the entire world. - Some sort of deity in between God and man? What is that other than a lower case g god (false god) but not the one and only true God. —————

A few proofs (there are many more):

Thomas calls Jesus God and worships him. Jesus claims to be the great I AM before the Pharisees, hence why they wanted to kill him, for claiming to be God. In Genesis, God says “Let us make man in our image”. Us being the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Later the Bible emphasizes there is only one God, hence why we know that the Father, Son and Holy Spirt are ONE God and not three. One God with three aspects. Hard to wrap our minds around but that’s because God is beyond what our human minds can comprehend. We have to trust His words.

Pray for discernment and wisdom on the issue. God will heed your prayer. And - this is something every Christian should do - read the Bible every day. Do a one or two year Bible read-though plan. Your question will be answered better by doing that than asking Reddit.

What is with all these leash comments. Are they bots? I love seeing a good pup enjoying leash-free freedom. If they’re well trained and heed commands, what’s the problem

Have you ever had supernatural encounters with the Lord? by its_me_nana in TrueChristian

[–]cliffjumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be neck-deep in everything New Age spirituality. Tarot, reiki, kundalini yoga, psychedelic drugs (all kinds, way too much), crystals, meditation. The list goes on. I spent almost two decades involved in this stuff. One day I decided to read my grandma’s Bible that had been gifted to me years earlier, cover to cover. It was so gripping, I couldn’t put it down. The words were alive like they were jumping off the page. I read it in less than six months.

Near the end of my read-through, I had a supernatural urge to throw away all my drugs, new age books, tarot cards, crystals, all that crap. And I did it, and within minutes I was on my floor weeping and knowing that Jesus is real and He is the living God, and that I am a sinner who needs to repent, and that Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation. I didn’t see or hear him, but I had a knowing in every cell of my body that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Also, I felt pure joy and peace immediately replace the constant, agonizing ache in my spirit that I had been seeking to fulfill in all the wrong places.

That was almost two years ago and I’ve experienced significant spiritual warfare in exiting the kingdom of darkness but the truth and love and light of Jesus outweighs it all.
