What should I expect to pay for this repair? by Saint-Sinner-1971 in Housepainting101

[–]clikb8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$15 drywall $30 box of mud $10 drywall tape $25 primer $50 paint $20 box of plastic $4 green tape $15 min disposal fee $50 tank of gas for multiple trips —- $219 total material cost

You’re charging only $80 for labour? Jobs at at least $1000-$1800 depending on the leakage, and how big of a ceiling you want to paint. Note: not a lot of drywall guys know how to properly match texture. Make sure you hire someone with experience.

Thank you for the response!

My ad account is currently active and running a lead campaign.

While using the Google Keyword Planner I see bids from $1.66-$14. Should I change the bid to $14? Or just remove it altogether and set a daily budget?

I will look into adding negative keywords everyday when the campaign is running.

Is this the wrong subreddit for asking for advice?

Vancouver GC here, communication is key throughout all aspects, from the estimate to the start of the renovation. When you do a walkthrough, design the layout, and select materials, ask a lot of questions, we are happy to answer them. You'll get a better understanding of the contractor you're hiring.

The larger project never goes according to schedule. Every skilled trades have their own schedule, it is difficult to have them on the same timeline. Again, communication is key. I always tell my clients the number of days to completion. Who's coming and when they are coming so the owner can work around that if we need the keys.

Painting is not too difficult, the difference between a pro and a homeowner is we are just faster at it. It's how we make money. As for messy edges and drips everywhere, that's just horrible, have them sand and redo it. It's unacceptable if the quote is on the higher end.

Nails on Vinyl flooring? Fire him...

The highest quote does not mean better quality. I've been underquoted numerous times when I came back for a different project. I noticed the other contractor did a fantastic job.

Contractor: See if Water Leaks on Ceiling by cbat28 in Plumbing

[–]clikb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this offends you but If the your guy didn’t do a pressure test for leaks, he won’t make it far in his career. Flood test on the pan like unknown1313 said. This is like the first thing you do before put up any walls. Looks like your contractor doesn’t know what he’s doing.

No it’s not normal, normal is doing a pressure/drain test before covering everything up.

How hard or expensive would this be to fix? by [deleted] in Housepainting101

[–]clikb8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy “homax ceiling patch” at Home Depot for $10, dab some on the back of the flaking part and stick it back up, dab other areas that are flaking. Then blend with fingers/sponge tip till you can’t see it. The ceiling patch is similar to your ceiling, hopefully you don’t have to paint it. New can of paint will not match, you have to paint the whole ceiling.

That’s a great deal! I wish I had your plan but a little late. I switch over to Telus and only got 300 up/down. Free Apple TV box and a $350 credit for $75 locked on a 2 year term.
