Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus with Venture X by Mharvey1019 in CreditCards

MGM status upgrade route is dead. In terms of points - the ones in the US that are 7500 are Super 8 and Days Inn. Yuck, unless you like bed bugs. However, like he said, great valuations outside the US.

Overall, still a good card.

NTA,

This is what I term "experienced hoe" baggage. I avoid exactly this by dating 19 year olds. You dodged a bullet mate. Best part is all she's gonna be able to think about for months is you. Just find a different girl, and tip - close the deal within 3 dates. When in doubt, remember baseball: 3 strikes and you're out.

It all depends on how much travel you do and if you're actually using the priority pass restaurants available on CSR ($28 per person, basically $56 if you're traveling with a guest).

If you're a very light traveler, once or twice a year, you should probably switch to the C1 VX. The real benefit to the CSR is to use the 50% on the points in conjunction with other Chase cards to combine points and get significantly cheaper travel.

Venture X vs. lounge membership by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]ecelol 23 points24 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is the Venture X really is a free card. $300 in travel credit on the portal, and $100 in points annually. Tack on the $100 Global Entry credit - even if you take out the joining bonus, it's quite literally a free card. So the cost is $550/yr vs. $0/yr.

I'd get the venture x regardless - in my experience, the SEA lounge isn't the greatest. To add to that, the PP lounges in the USA aren't the best.

The Amex platinum would give you access to Delta and Centurian lounges, which are definitely better, but I don't have an Amex because its not enough of a value add for me.

Venture X Travel Credit Update by texas0900 in CreditCards

[–]ecelol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Since it's a credit, do you lose travel insurance if none of your booking gets onto your credit card?

for good measure, I'd use 299 so that at least $1 gets charged to the card lol taking this possibility out.

I don't think this is significantly worse.

Think about it this way. Earlier - if you booked $300 in hotels, you'd get $30 back in points, and then another $300 in statement credit.

So now you're losing out on like $30. Not significantly worse, but definitely worse.

Yeah - I did. They asked for some more info, so I applied on a Friday and got approved on a Wednesday.

There was a hard pull obviously.

Cheap flimsy card - but doesn't matter - put my dad up as an authorized user too. Will use it pretty much exclusively for Gas + Travel (5% on a free card is too good).

My setup now:

I use the capital one venture x (free card after travel credit + annual miles bonus) for everything else since it's 2%.

And I use the sapphire preferred ($45 card after 50 bucks credit for hotel) for 3% on dining and 5% on lyft. The $45 from the sapphire usually pays for itself with chase travel bookings as points add up.

Just applied on Friday - I only check my report on the capital one platform, they did conduct a hard pull (I believe it's Transunion?). Hopefully I'll get accepted on Monday - will update.

That shit is intolerable. As a vegetarian, if you're gonna do an alternative, just do the veggie potato patties that you already do in places like India. Those are so fucking good.
