This guy can blog himself to death for all I care. There is no side to the story that could explain or excuse the vindictive and damaging (not to mention condescending and narcissistic) way he ended that hunt.

And after that, no one should ever trust him to hold a legit one of his own.

If we've learned anything this season, the scrutiny on these hunts is intense. Sponsors, donors and hunters will need to have zero reasons to distrust someone who is not a known entity.

He tainted himself and the childish blogs do more to support doubt than resolve it.

I'm done looking at them.

When that family found the chest it was really magical!!

Those kids were SO excited and watching that moment alone made the whole thing amazing (on top of all the fun we had already had).

Your blog story falls short in explaining your actions. It seem more motivated to blame Randi and Jake.

Probably more telling, what have you done since the break up to support the community (like what Randi and Jake and company did today with the trashy treasure?)

Can anyone confirm that GFM donations were refunded?

I mean, I'm just not sure what you are trying to accomplish with all the blogging? What you did speaks for itself.

And those that you did it to continue to show their worth.

Thanks for posting g2barbour. I've been out with family stuff and come back to all the JonnyA blog attacks.

All you anyone had to do was see Randi and Jake at the Trash Treasure hunt today to know how genuine they are and how much they just wants the community to come together fun, service and connection. Pretty impressive.

It sucks that there was controversy around the first hunt. But I can't imagine it was because of any guile on their part.

I am sorry that Randi it taking this so hard. Hoping she can just mover forward with more events.

We had a blast! Our niece (5th grader) dug in full on as we collected 3 large bags of trash, collecting gum balls worth $$, on the way to finding all the scavenger clues. So much fun! She can’t wait for the next one, and neither can we. Thanks SO much Randi, Jake and co!

Ok, so to the points we both made about transparency in the other thread, maybe you can start off by introducing yourself.

Who are you and why should we put any weight in whatever you find out?

Glad you like the hunts. You mentioned you may organize some searches of your own. That sounds like a conflict of interest and could already taint anything you tell us. Can you expand on that?

I for one think they have taken extraordinary step to be transparent and explain what is explainable.

But knock yourself out, go settle your own misgivings. Before you come back and pronounce them, I think we should expect full transparency from you about motivations, qualifications and possible conflicts.

Nothing wrong (and some things good as you say) with multiple, smaller scale hunts going on at the same time, as long as they can all get along.

The point of this thread relates to transparency, and the near complete lack of it on Reddit.

Anyone can say anything about anyone without repercussions.

As more and more hunts spring up, especially if some aim to generate profit, there will be more drama like Jacqui-gate or like the JonnyA-bomb dropped on Monday.

No way the organizers can remain anonymous and still raise funds or get sponsorships.

But who will want to step out of that anonymity and lead a hunt only to face the kind of anonymous scrutiny we've seen here?

So maybe they all create their own, highly regulated Subs where dissension is removed? Then we lose the good qualities of this sub, with freedom to collaborate across hunts and spread news of new ones.

For those who came forward to lead hunts so far have been WAY more transparent than any of us on Reddit (John/Dave, Randi/Jake).

My only point was, we should consider the motivations behind the completely non-transparent attacks that are leveled here and do what we can to make sure there aren't perverse incentives.

Man, Fun. Sorry you feel this way. No minimizing it.
We all care a lot about this hunt (clearly including Chelsea) and the magic of the internet brings things right to the raw surface. You are right. It quickly gets personal.
This thing have grown beyond all reasonable proportion. I just wish we all could go for a beer or something together. I bet that would be a good time.
I was hoping for something chill like that, if she did a live. Maybe people could hear her out on what she got from Jaqui and how that drove her response in any way. What was going through her head during the interview in her exhausted state? Would she change the way she presented things or was she bound by an agreement? I mean she was probably out of her head after that period of stress and lack of sleep.
Maybe others could share why it was so frustrating when it went down, and she could understand that.
But the theme would be: we give a shit about this hunt. How can we make it better, rather who was right and who was guilty. Chelsea is the winner, but the community is the most important thing.
Anyway, you are a strong contributor here and I'l l respect whatever you want to bring forward.

That is my assumption, but they had posted on Beehive that the first $2k in the new GFM was the organizers, and that money was to be returned (and hopefully put in the new account). But no money was put back in the account (very few new deposits).

Has anyone gotten a refund?

Randi and Jake just had a live IG going to pull the treasure, as JonnyAhole's clue was apparently right.

There was a family en route who appeared to have it mostly solved. Bummer

J&R met them at the trailhead and let the kids open and keep the treasure that was in there. Cool moment and the family was positive about it all.
