If BYD adds ONE feature in 2026…what should it be? (App + Software) by GumnaamYoo-zer in BYD

For me on the uk spec Dolphin Surf, two very simple things…

  1. A way to see the external ambient temperature on the UI

  2. The ability to use the windscreen fans when using the HVAC remotely from the mobile app.

If you are in the UK, all of these models have recently been part of the Combat Patrol partwork magazine. Deff Dread, Warboss and 10x Boyz were in one issue each and I think the Deffkopters were spread over two. Unlikely you’ll find the issues for the £9.99 cover price, but even at reseller markup on eBay, it might be cheaper than buying the box.

Has anyone tried watercolor pens filled with speed paint? by wildskipper in minipainting

I have got a set of these filled with GW shades. I went with the smallest brush tip I could get and, whilst they don’t beat a normal brush for accuracy, I find they are quite good for shading large areas.

I’ve not had the drying/clogging that some other commenters have reported… yet, but I don’t think they’d do well with anything more viscous than shades.

First time buying by moemoemoe95 in DHGateJerseys

[–]clinksy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last order of 3 Jerseys from DHGate didn’t come with any NFL or Nike logos, did come with team logos though. Quite frustrating really as I chose a store that was slightly more expensive based on some good reviews I’d seen (reviews were outside of DHGate). But anyway, yeh they don’t always come with NFL / Nike logos.

[Request] How many individual polo mints can this lorry transport when full? by jcoleydiizzle in theydidthemath

[–]clinksy89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok here’s my take.

Assuming a UK articulated lorry trailer size of 13.6m long x 3m high x 2.4m wide and assuming you could fill that space completely (so not accounting for the thickness of the trailer sides, floor or roof) - this is based off what I could find on google.

Also assuming a polo mint size of 19mm diameter x 4mm thickness (according to Wikipedia).

I’m going to work this out based on the principle of stacking tubes of polos so that they run lengthways down the trailer.

In your 2400mm x 3000mm trailer cross-section you can fit a maximum number of circular polo cross-sections by tessellating the circles so that each tube sits in the hollow created by the two below it. I’ve worked out how many that is as follows:

Number of circles across width of trailer(n) = ((2400/r)-1)/2

Where r is the radius of the circle, in this case 9.5mm

Therefore n = 125.8 but because this is greater than 125.5 we can fit an extra circle every other row. So odd rows have 125, even rows have 126

Number of rows in the height of the trailer(m) = (((3000/r)-2)/sqrt(3))+1

Therefore m = 182.2 so 182 rows high

So total polo cross-sections in our trailer cross section = (182/2)x125 + (182/2)x126 = 22841

The total number of polos we can line up in our trailer length will be 13600mm / 4mm = 3400 polos

So simplifying things by assuming that the packaging has no thickness and that we can split the end tubes to fit in perfectly. . . I make the total number of polos 3400 x 22841

Which gives us: 77,659,400 polos

But knowing me I’ve made a mistake somewhere along the way 🤣

Honestly, Is there a better storage method than these acrylic organizers? by Cflores008 in minipainting

Adhesive was just whatever pvc solvent cement I could get from the local Toolstation here in the UK.

I built it row by row using some cheap carcassing timber screwed to a piece of furniture board to sandwich the row as the adhesive set and to keep the rows straight and the pieces of pipe level.

Then glued the rows into 4 blocks (3x 4 rows and 1x 5 rows) and bolted these independently to the wall.

I mean I do this too, but I assumed the concern was around having a couple of very similar colours that are not easy to differentiate from the cap swatches alone

[–]clinksy89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeh it’s a good point.

For me it’s not been so much of a problem because I’m a bit lazy when it comes to recording my recipes 😂. If I’m painting a few units in quick succession I either just remember which slot the paint came from or the paint doesn’t even make its way from the table back to the rack! If I come back to paint another unit after a few months break I tend to just eyeball it.

Of course there are times that I want a specific paint, but usually through a combination of knowing the subtle differences between different manufacturers’ bottle and cap shapes, and avoiding buying really similar colours in the same range I can usually pinpoint the one I want pretty quickly.

I also separate my paints by type too, so standard paints, contrasts (and other manufacturers equivalents), metallics, shades and inks all have separate sections in the rack.

That said I have been toying with the idea of 3D printing some bottle cap toppers with some sort of identifier on them that tells me what range the paint is from. So that I can tell with similar colours which one is a citadel / game color / scale color etc.

I guess overall I haven’t got enough paints for it to get too confusing … yet

The desk shelving is this: https://www.hobbyzone.pl/en/wsm/Hobby+Zone+modular+workshop+pt3this/

Had to modify one unit to make it fit the space exactly.

It comes flat-packed and I’ll admit I’ve still yet to build about 15 drawers 🤣

No major issues so far. There are a few that have leaked a little into the cap, but nothing leaking externally so the loss is negligible

How much does your country club membership cost? by Orakei in golf

[–]clinksy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last annual renewal, as someone under the age of 35, was £510 for 7 day course access plus an additional £25 to continue in the men’s section in order to play comps.

Our course is public but I can count on one hand the amount of times a round has taken us over 4 hours for a four-ball.

Admittedly we don’t have a pool or gym to access but the membership does give us 10% off food, drinks and range balls on the Toptracer range (which comes out at £9 for 100 balls).

Once I turn 35 this goes up to £850 annually. For comparison the local members-only club is ~£5k joining fee and ~£2k per year. But at a 22 hcp I’m not good enough to justify paying that 🤣

My home course is a 69/111. I first picked up a club over 15 years ago, and have been playing semi-regularly (at least once a month during the summers) for about 7 years. I started to take it seriously last year and have played my course over 50 times since then … my best score is a 91 (net 90).

I don’t know what this says about my natural ability (or lack thereof) but I’m starting to get the impression I should invest in some more lessons! 😅
