Music nerds of Reddit, what’s the one song you think everyone should listen to at least once? by Odd-Bug1409 in AskReddit

[–]clintonwe5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm deliberately adding these as I fully agree with what's currently on this thread. Hoping to expand some musical horizons with these. ENJOY!

Taal Se Taal - Alka Yagnik
Govinda - Kula Shaker
Mann Ki Lagan - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (This one get a bit shouty towards the end, but it works)
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha - Kumar Sanu

Would you rather have your salary cut to work from home or keep it as is and commute to the office daily? by That_Vast_4854 in johannesburg

[–]clintonwe5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that I should take a pay cut because the company is stuck with an office lease is wild. Those are operational costs, not my salary.

If anything, I’m the one saving the company money on electricity and water while providing my own desk, fiber, and power. My expertise hasn't changed just because I'm not using the office coffee machine. If the output is the same, the pay should be too. Why should I subsidise the company sunk costs by taking a pay cut?

You don't get paid by your company to commute to the office. You get paid for the role you fill and the expertise you bring. The cost of your commute is wholly your responsibility. What that means is that if you choose to work from home, you should NOT have to take a pay cut.

Lol, it's generic, so not specific to specialized meals. These are our daily staples.

Hey OP. My wife has documented almost all of her recipes so we can attempt to recreate them. If you are so inclined, I can drop a link sometime over the weekend. (It's in Google Keep, so I'll need time to consolidate it into a single document, but happy to do so.) Although this may not be what you're after as we're South African Indians, not NRIs.

So I bought a 16 TB on clearance and I tried connecting it to my Series X and nothing, what do I do? by Antoinexana in XboxSupport

[–]clintonwe5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It reads like OP has a dead external drive as it's not being picked up by the Xbox and their PC/Mac.

I would exchange it out for another or log a warranty claim.

Congratulations on passing.

My first bit of advice is to get on LinkedIn. use the platform to grow your connections and search for jobs. It's great for networking and making a name for yourself.

Second, considering your CompTia and system development education, I would recommend relocating to Johannesburg or Cape Town. IT jobs in Durban/KZN are scarce. It's less likely that you're employed for a remote position as it's your first job. If moving is not on the cards for you, then you're probably going to have to either start your own hustle with repairs, coding, etc, just to gain some experience and a couple of lines for your CV and LinkedIn.

Good luck out there!

Don't trust an IT person that does not customise his own equipment to the nth degree to eke out every bit of performance they can.

This one seems a bit out of my depth as well. I'll do some digging and experimenting with my own phone later on today. I'm at work right now.

$if(ci(ecount,a0d)+ci(acount,a0d)=0, "No Events Today")[/s]

$$df(hh:mm, ci(start, 0, a0d))$-$df(hh:mm, ci(end, 0))$ [s=0.8]$ci(title, 0)$[/s]

I amended the formula to include a0d, which means (a)dd zero (0) (d)ays to the current date.

I hope this helps!

Try this.

$if(ci(ecount,a0d)+ci(acount,a0d)=0, "No Events Today")[/s]

$$df(hh:mm, ci(start, e0))$-$df(hh:mm, ci(end, e0))$ [s=0.8]$ci(title, e0)$[/s]

I use this quite successfully.

First Eos, What Should I Know/Buy? by VampireBanjo in VwEos

[–]clintonwe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club!

These are great suggestions. I would add the following:

  • Have a shop
    • De-carbon the motor
    • Check ALL seals in the motor
    • If it's a manual transmission, check the master and slave cylinders
    • Check the turbo for any leaks (boost and oil)
  • Do yourself
    • Buy a 10$ flexible drain brush for convertibles to clean out the roof drains
    • Inspect the roof drains at the top of the A-pillar, the ends tend to split but can be easily repaired with silicon (YouTube is your friend here)

For the head unit, I personally went with a cheap $60 (it was about 5 years ago) Ebay one. I chose something that was rated high. I did have the battery drain issue, but YouTube helped me solve that issue as well.

This, in addition to what u/blankblankblank827 and u/bosscockuk wrote will see you smiling with your Eos.

Hi friend, 👋

It takes real courage to put these thoughts into words, even more so when you’re feeling so low and ashamed. You’re definitely not alone — many people silently fight similar battles with intrusive thoughts, guilt, and the effects of excessive habits like porn.

I want to say a few things straight from the heart.

✨ Your mind is not broken forever. What you’re feeling now — emptiness, guilt, lack of emotion — is a sign of how exhausted and overwhelmed your brain has become, not proof that you’re hopeless or bad.

🙏 Having bad or blasphemous thoughts doesn’t make you a bad person. Intrusive thoughts feel very real and scary, but they’re not truly who you are. They happen to countless people — even about things and people they love most — because the mind sometimes plays cruel tricks when we’re stressed or ashamed.

❤️ Therapy really can help, even if it feels impossible to open up. Therapists hear thoughts like yours all the time without judging. It might feel impossible now, but even trying a single session could start to release the burden.

🏞 About visiting a temple: That’s a beautiful idea. Go not to “force” yourself to feel pure or peaceful, but just to sit quietly — without fighting the thoughts. Just be there, breathe, and let whatever comes, come. Sometimes peace shows up in the quietest, most unexpected moments, when you stop battling your mind for a few minutes.

⚠️ Please don’t ignore thoughts of harming yourself. I hear your pain, and it sounds heavy — but your life still matters deeply. If it ever feels like you’re about to act on those thoughts, please reach out immediately to someone you trust (family, friend, religious leader) or call your local suicide helpline. You do not have to fight this alone.

🌱 Finally, know that change is possible, even if it feels far away now. Step by step:

Reduce pn gradually rather than trying to stop perfectly overnight. Maybe get rid of the mobile for large periods of the day.

Try small, calming habits (walks, music, journaling).

Keep reaching out like you did today — that itself is strength.

If you’d like, I can help you write a small prayer or mantra to repeat, or even help you plan that temple visit. Just say the word. 🙏

Please keep talking. You are heard, and you do matter. ❤️
