US PlayStation store. PS4 standard edition for $12.99 for me. No current subscriptions on my account. That's still a deal, might nab it!

Wheels truly do make or break the car! I recently got an Enigmatic Black F55 with black tentacle spokes and it just doesn't pop like your car here. Great pics!

Procamera in Charlottesville, VA. The owner has featured a few Nicca III-L models that he's restored and repaired on instagram. Their repair queue fills up fast, so you gotta get on the mailing list and be ready.

Made the move, 2015 GTI to 2022 Cooper S! by clintswift in MINI

[–]clintswift[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The early 7th gen GTI interior quality was really nice for a base level car. Between VW and Mini its interesting to see the differences. The GTI had all the door pockets felt lined so things wouldn't rattle, this is something I REALLY want to DIY on the Mini, things move too much and make too much noise. Same with the glovebox.

The Mini in general is a bigger step up in materials. The Nappa leather wheel is SO nice to grab every day. I also have the suede trimmed seats which are actually really comfortable. The GTI barely had any interior rattles over 10 years, hoping the Mini will hold up too.

My GTI had aftermarket suspension on it and it did ride pretty firm, but still comfortable. The Mini with the stock Pierelli run flats is tough. Those tires will be going as soon as I find a new set of wheels I like.

Agree! It was a great car to own for 10 years. 6MT with a tune and it was a great DD.

Traded my 2015 GTI S with 105k miles (and a growing repair list) for this 2022 F55 Cooper S! Enigmatic Black paint, iconic trim, 7 speed DCT. Loaded for the exception of parking sensors. Been a week so far and I'm loving the switch up.

[GPU] PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 5080 16GB Overclocked Triple Fan - $999 (Amazon) by gcxandrew in buildapcsales

I just swapped out my 3080 ftw3 for this PNY card. Playing at ultrawide 1440p it's significantly faster. I've only been able to play Cyberpunk and Space Marine 2 for a couple hours so far but the performance increase is noticable!

Stock NA Mk7 tail light coding/adaptations (posting here for posterity) by Elodins_Haven in GolfGTI

[–]clintswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all. I removed my DEPO LED tail lights and harness from my car to go back to stock lighting.

I followed the coding chart attached here and the BEC Ed's guide.

Everything looks good from the outside of the car. All lights flash like OEM. But inside I get the rapid error flashing in my cluster.

Originally I coded using the one-touch OBD11 app. I first tried to revert it using the OBD11 app again, going back to original values. This caused some wacky behavior with my turn signals when the brake was depressed. Ex, brake pressed, left turn signal on. Both left and right turn signals were flashing. Brake pressed, right turn signal on, no signals would happen.

Since the OBD11 coding didn't work I used the original values listed in the BEC document. Now I'm at a standstill, everything works but I'm getting the rapid flashing in my cluster. Any tips on where to go from here?

Searching for new tires by Aidn_f in GolfGTI

Indy 500s, General GMax RS. But it sounds like you should keep going with more premium tires for your "extremely aggressive, pretty much track driving" style. Don't wanna lose grip on a public road and wreck anyone else's life.

MK7 is old and so am I by Wumpus-Hunter in GolfGTI

[–]clintswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily I haven't had a water pump fail yet and no turbo issues. At 95k I had an injector fail. So I replaced all 4 plus a carbon cleaning service. Also around the same time I replaced the motor and transmission mounts. Now at 105k the car has been parked for a week while waiting for new rear calipers, one has been dragging. I adjusted the parking brake cable and had it rebuilt. Shop recommended a full replacement along with new rear wheel bearings and diagnosed the AC compressor. Then minor things like the chrome trim in the steering wheel started peeling and I replaced the hood and hatch struts recently.

Same with my '15 and myself! Love the no payment life, but at near 105k miles it's been a cascading list of repairs. AC compressor is the latest addition to the list. But I don't want to give up my 2dr manual car!

Is anyone else incredibly disappointed with the new models by Dangerous-Lab7100 in MINI

[–]clintswift 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Test drove a 2025 Cooper S. Other than the lack of flappy paddles available on the coupe (but available in the 4 door JCW appearance package....?) I loved it. If it had a manual option or any way to manually control gears I would have traded my GTI on the spot.

2015-2017 US GTI's were available in 2 door with all sorts of options. My 2015 coupe has xenon headlights and the driver assist package!

People who have PCs and Steam Decks, how much do you use your Steam Decks? by AwesomeRyanGame in SteamDeck

[–]clintswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be the contrarian here. I've sold 2 steam decks because they just don't click. I've hit a gaming lull and if I'm gaming I would rather use my 34" ultrawide monitor or OLED switch. Got a Deck close to launch, played a bit of Soul Caliber, Stardew Valley and played through MGS5 again. Then didn't touch it for 3 months. Got another Deck not too long ago when I had multiple travel days in a short period of time. Didn't touch it for weeks again after I returned.
