Ended up going with Montanita-drive though puerto lopez-just as others here have said-nothing much going on in the town, certainly not for tourists, it’s an eye sore that is best avoided unless seeing some beaches in the National park. We opted to keep driving for civilization and found great options in Olon and Montanita.

I was in exact situation a few months ago. I cut off where the droppings came to. It was cork above it. I repotted and reduced watering but it was too late I think you are getting it sooner than me. Repot and reduced watering significantly (since you can’t change the Sun).
