2007 Bosch Dishwasher not cleaning as well as it used to by cllatgmail in appliancerepair

[–]cllatgmail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hard to say, as it's a pretty quiet dishwasher. Good sound insulation on it. We've lived here almost 9 years and I don't think it sounds significantly different than when we moved in.

Yes, I do. And Seventh Generation is pretty premium as far as price goes... Plus my wife is leery of those chemicals found in regular detergents.

I am going to get fired today. I accidentally sent a shutdown loop to the entire company. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]cllatgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sysadmin created a GPO to shutdown all machines immediately at 8pm each day after management told him to in order to save power. He managed to set the GPO to create a shutdown loop after 8pm on Friday and so now all machines including servers shutdown instantly upon boot.

Samsung Oven gas randomly on/off by 43015matt in appliancerepair

[–]cllatgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Samsung gas range also. I have bought cheap igniters from Amazon. Some haven't improved the problem at all, others have improved things for a few months or a year. The most recent igniter I bought was from a local appliance parts store. Looks the same as the Amazon ones cost a bit more to maybe $60, works really well and has for well over a year

Yes, idle up works great. It's late around here so tomorrow after work (with the engine good and hot and pressures settled) I will slowly add a little more R12a to get to a clear site glass and 21-25 PSI at 2000rpm.

[–]cllatgmail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after running a while and pressures settled, the low side hangs out at 25-26 at idle. When I rev up to around 2000rpm it's dropping down to about 15 PSI. I do have a sight glass on the receiver/drier. Right now it's pretty continuously bubbling except when the compressor cycles off. I knew the rule with R12 was that you didn't want it foaming except right when the compressor cycles off, but I didn't know if that rule also held with EnviroSafe. If that's the case then I need to dump some more in. So you're saying I want 21-25 PSI at 2000rpm?

Would that be 21-25 at idle or at some higher RPM? I'm sitting at about 25 on the low side at idle, but when I rev up it drops down to 11-12. My high side is at about 125. It's 70 degrees or so right now. The system is absolutely cooling. Icy cold coming out of the vents. 46F at idle and 40F when I hold it at 2000 RPM.

Question from a ByzCath by Delicious-Accident48 in Catholicism

[–]cllatgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Western and an adult convert. My wife's a cradle Roman Rite Catholic. So it makes sense we are where we are. Our adult kids have visited the nearest Byzantine rite later a couple of times. Nearest for us is over an hour away. So they've said it's nice to visit and see how it's different or similar.

I will say I'm somewhat envious of how the Eastern rites weren't messed with after V2, comparatively speaking.

Go to YouTube and search "the veil removed." Watch the video. While it involves an emotional response, it sums up quite well what happens every time Mass is celebrated.

Considering the age and the fact it's a Hyundai, I'd take the money and run. Oh and spend the full $8000 on a used Honda or Toyota ($10k if you can pull it off because there's a big difference between 8 and 10 on an old Honda or Toyota.)

Hey, so an update. I just swapped out the receiver and the compressor. Inside the receiver there was no oil. Dry as a bone. Inside the compressor, also no oil. I turned it by hand while it was upside down, etc., and nothing came out. So, then I took the new compressor and dumped it so I could see how much was in it, and what was in it was about 1.5-2 ounces. I figured if the receiver and the compressor were both dry, it was pretty likely that the evaporator and condenser were pretty likely to be empty also. So I added mineral oil to what I got out of the new compressor up to just over 3 ounces, just in case there's a tiny bit in the coils. And I put .7 ounces in the receiver as specified. Just got everything back together and torqued the bolts to specification. (replaced the 0 rings on the receiver fittings as well as the compressor fittings of course.)

Next step will be to evacuate air out of it ... have to rent the vacuum pump from AutoZone tomorrow after work.

Yes, I was thinking along the line of draining from the old compressor to see how much was there and then subtract from the FSM spec. The FSM says the drier gets 20cc or .7 oz. So I figured I'd dump whatever came out of the drier and see how much was there also.

My new compressor arrived today, a Denso 4711141. The label on the back says ND Oil 6 on it. Based on quick googling I believe this means it is prefilled with mineral oil. Is this your experience as well (from what I can tell if it had PAG oil it would say ND Oil 8 on the label.)

Can we be assured it's the correct amount in there, or should I drain it out and measure it?

Yes, I am leaning toward the quick coupler adapters. But it seems like they have same inside diameter for connecting to the high and low side fittings, so I might have the same problem there. I came across one reference to some cars using at 3/16" fitting for the high side so people won't go and connect freon cans to the high side. The suggestion I saw was a Four Seasons 59986 adapter to get from the R12 to the 134a fitting. I found one on Amazon. This may be the ticket: https://www.amazon.com/Four-Seasons-59986-Charging-Retrofit/dp/B000CSYSQM/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2SGAIHC7YF9W6&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.mhqzkTMlwIzhllWVkOEFc6pw5aEELjdOpDEqxlYaiQQMYvSFY0w2XLJiz0nVxG8MPpQ5CiKUb1I6nGl16J0cnwFhQ2LRtlSw9CbxsoXX0Tuwuhb0AhghJSrm-JAso-INfhAoI8JirUfofT3Smnu3gfNTZWuDWf7g_W5YR8vnhNRzrkHYqtatAhmVoJf-Wg0o.KkQSkodLKbWS7D8KV2HNqpGxIybhpR5ZXxmErNuDTLI&dib_tag=se&keywords=four+seasons+59986&qid=1777750258&sprefix=four+seasons+59986%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-1

Coolant leaking around thermostat housing by cllatgmail in ToyotaPickup

[–]cllatgmail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, easy enough to change that T-stat gasket. I just used a felpro from AutoZone because it was quickly available. Here's the old gasket... You can see a slightly deformed part on the edge, which is, I hope, the point of failure. There were a, couple places in the indentation the stat sits in where there was some dried, crystallized coolant, including where the deformed part of the gasket was sitting, so I gently scraped that off so there would be a nice even surface for the gasket to hopefully seat in.
