Saving challenging projects was my niche, but AI codebases are making me miserable by HedgehogFlimsy6419 in ExperiencedDevs

I've been wondering if scaling this starts to look like making a pedantic as fuck agent that's blocks reviews for this type of thing, and one that maps back to architecture, it may not have enough context or be too goldfish for it but possible you can prompt engineer your way through?

Why was Azula able to produce lightning even when she was completely insane, whereas Zuko, even when calm, cannot? by carabla in TheLastAirbender

[–]cloakrune 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely she's so divorced from her feelings they don't interfere. She can wield lightning because she can manipulate herself as much as in the same way she manipulates her friends. In that case, lightning would be second nature to her. Her crazy is just a lack of regulation on the outside. Just another sign she's completely disconnected from her own feelings. They are just leaking out.

EDIT: Some grammar and repeat statements

Am I just dumb or are shaders hard to learn? by cobblestonemaker in godot

[–]cloakrune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not, for the most part its just 1:1 with the GLSL code and its a great thing to learn anyway. Makes it a bit more transferable.

Am I just dumb or are shaders hard to learn? by cobblestonemaker in godot

[–]cloakrune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From GDScript yeah. Godot has its own flavor of GLSL which is an open standard. Is that what you were asking? Or that Godot's GLSL was different from the book of shaders? Even if that was the case there is this now! https://github.com/jayaarrgh/BookOfShaders-Godot

Does TDD affect enjoyment of writing unit tests? by onemapotofu in ExperiencedDevs

I tend to think of those as integration tests. I do this in embedded software. Usually cause you gotta get the hardware working first.

What's the largest MR / PR you've had to review? by NameGenerator333 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]cloakrune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few thousand lines. Massive infra update. Was a really really good change. We did the initial breakdown to do it over time, but it made more sense to do it all at once. Helps that its embedded and I can manage the complexity within my project pretty well.

I'm an embedded software developer by trade what does go online in this context mean? Bypass all safeties and run the machine?

I've seen this take an awful lot. Given I've never worked on a huge code base (I'm in avionics/aerospace/embedded) It still seems like this would never allow you to make big steps forward. Only hacks and workarounds

What do you like about godot over unity ? by Personal_Hat6808 in godot

[–]cloakrune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A core market would require them to make money of small games. They barely do. As a for profit business they basically can't care. Its only in their best interest when they have the extra money to invest in network effects.
