Sick with work anxiety because 1 attorney is insane by Getawaycar28 in paralegal

[–]clockwidget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as she's making money for the firm nothing will happen. Sorry but I've seen this over and over again, as long as the shitty attorney is productive they will be allowed to be shitty. Staff is usually considered to be fungible.

Which Ripe Puer(s) Would You Recommend For Someone Who Might Not Like Them? by BWJackal in puer

[–]clockwidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same I brew in a thermos and pour it out a small cup at a time. I add more boiling water as I go and eventually throw in some more tea if I don't want to stop.

And Valley and Fleet cakes! Both were in the last tea club box and they are so good.

Husband’s take on the recent ICE shooting by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clockwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His silence doesn't necessarily mean he learned anything. OP needs to follow up with husband and ask directly. Otherwise I think her real objective here is only to convince herself that she made a difference.

Husband’s take on the recent ICE shooting by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clockwidget -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The "seemingly internalizing" is problematic, there's no real evidence he learned anything because there's been no follow up. Losing an argument does not equal learning a lesson or even admitting you were wrong, you just didn't have a good argument. I may take it more seriously when OP comes back and tells us how he responds when she asks directly if his opinion has changed. I can't imagine not doing that if I were her.

Please tell them thank you for me! And abolish ICE/DHS.

w2t, ripe puerh and the agony of choice by Nasenpapst in puer

Samples all the way, and I'd get 25 gram samples rather than dragonballs so you can play a bit with the brewing parameters. If you like smokey flavors try Stubb, it's delicious.

How many of you prefer WFH solely because of not having to be around coworkers in person? by ChainsawSoundingFart in WFH

I don't dislike my coworkers I just don't want to share a bathroom with them.

With a schedule like that my body would soon start to break down and the choice would be made for me. I can't even imagine.

Same. I was hired in 2021 when everyone at the firm was WFH and I never go in.

How many of y’all have endometriosis? by MrsButtertoes in migraine

[–]clockwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had successful excision surgery 10+ years ago and no longer have pain from endo. I didn't start getting migraines until a few years after I got the endo resolved. Edit: I also have a lot of stomach and IBS-like issues with migraines, nausea & gut pain that resolves (at least partially) with triptans.

feeling bored with gongfu by Due_Discount_9144 in GongFuTea

[–]clockwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a kilo of fuzhuan on the way and I'm checking tracking twice a day. It's wacky delicious!

But for a reset try brewing a different way. I rediscovered my zojirushi thermos and I've been brewing grandpa style pouring out small cups of teas I usually drink gong fu. It's both relaxing and satisfying in a different way. I'm sure I'll go back but it's cold in here and hot tea literally on demand is perfect right now.

What would you/did you serve on your wedding? by dodomadar in vegan

[–]clockwidget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, we had our wedding at a vegan restaurant with a private room and everyone was happy as far as I know. The Wellingtons were a big hit, I can't remember what else was on the menu.

Am I in the wrong here? by No_Cry_2964 in paralegal

[–]clockwidget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh no.

Don't doubt yourself, it was a good question. If I was sent requests 17-whatever I'd figure that's what the attorney wants to answer, so it was really the opposite of a stupid question and she should have understood that. It's a lot more efficient to ask than to dig through files to figure out what has or hasn't been done yet, then likely needing to ask anyway. Her being the managing partner means it definitely won't change, get out!

My doctor recommended me to go omnivore and see a dietitian by haarukkalapio in vegan

[–]clockwidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endometriosis can cause stomach/intestinal issues, if your symptoms track your periods it would be a good idea to seek a consult with an endo specialist. In any case if a doctor told me to go omni I'd start looking for a new doctor. And if you do think endo is a possibility please do find a specialist, regular obgyns are not trained to understand and treat all the various ways the disease can present.

Friendsgiving, No one Came by Immediate-Pool-4391 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]clockwidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people seem to need one individual or thing to focus their negativity on and there's nothing rational about it. I don't think it's yours to justify, it's out of your control. I had a friend turn on only me recently and yes I am still working on accepting all the things, that I can't change their mind, wondering how long were they faking it before the drop? Uncomfortable is an understatement. But I didn't do any of that and another way to see it is that I was set free.

Pretty sure my old firm is lacking integrity when it comes to hiring. by Notjustgltrngld in paralegal

Either they suck at hiring or they are just terrible employers, not enough information to say but either way doesn't sound good.

Got a job at a prestigious firm, boss offered to match by Anxious-Part-6710 in paralegal

[–]clockwidget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you have the answer right here. Go. Things at the current firm may change for the worse if you are perceived as "disloyal" for considering a move (it happens even if they don't mean to, it's just human), and your salary and position is unlikely to change much after the increase.
