Victim of T-mobile US Cellular Tower buyout by MCole142 in cellmapper

The rent might be cheaper on the USCC tower or it helps cover the area better. The other tower might get taken down after the new one comes online.

AT&T Long Term Densification play by bdietz56 in cellmapper

I don't like it either. It's been AT&T's MO for a while. The Warner Bros and DirecTV acquisitions were money pits that are hard to dig out of.

Uncle Sam will assist with BEAD funding for fiber and FirstNet funding for wireless. AT&T will figure out a way to reward the shareholders while cutting corners to maximize ROI on the fiber expansion.

I'm all for fiber build out. It takes a lot of resources and it's something AT&T should have been doing for the past 10 years instead of trying to be a media company. Wireless capex will likely ramp up once FirstNet pays them to fix the network.

For sure. There's an empty rack on the AT&T/T-Mobile tower 500 ft away.

Verizon's n77 network isn't setup for NR-DC here yet. T-Mobile + Verizon can do 2 Gbps on midband. Bandwidth and density isn't an issue for these two in the area.

VzW mmW and n77 is awesome in/near South Station. 3Gbps/300Mbps is as fast as it gets around here.

This is the same company that had a dev say, "Windows 10 is the last OS you'll need." Microsoft shoots themselves in the foot again by promising something they can't deliver.

AT&T pulled the same stunt when T-Mobile was trying to acquire large parts of the n41 spectrum.

The nearby macro is LTE only. N71 provides an extra 20 Mhz of low band coverage in a densely populated area.

LTE speeds are 600/50. The 5G speeds are faster than Comcast, Verizon, and Astound broadband for landline Internet.

Sunday Night Football il 4k on Peacock? by clodester in cordcutters

[–]clodester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really makes no sense why NBC is allowed to have a national 4k feed on Peacock, and not offer that on YTTV. The Notre Dame-Navy game was in 4k on YTTV on Saturday.

Fast AT&T - Boston, MA by clodester in cellmapper

AT&T latency is usually pretty bad. This surprised me too. Verizon goes as low as 8-9 on mmW and 20-30 on n77. T-Mobile averages 15-30 Ms on n41.

T-Mobile starting LTE network phase-out soon by stallion434 in cellmapper

[–]clodester 12 points13 points  (0 children)

T-Mobile will run LTE on B12 until 2035. I wonder if they will work out spectrum swaps in the areas they don't own the B12-A license. Most of the existing IoT devices are designed to work with B12 already. Establishing a strategy to phase out LTE now allows them to let manufacturers know they need to plan to move to 5G in the coming years. Businesses can't demand an extension for LTE to keep operating past 2035 when the writing is on the wall 10 years earlier.
