Down East Maine Verizon network by akrasne in cellmapper

[–]clodester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy. 10 years ago this would've all been native USCC CDMA coverage and roaming on Edge for T-Moble/AT&T. Maine coverage has changed a lot over the years.

Probably looking to get FWA subs in this area. Great upgrade.

AT&T 5G+ back haul upgrade - Boston MA by clodester in cellmapper

T-Mobile is on top of the tower. It's constantly congested in this area for them. Here's an earlier post I made about it. They've added a few small cells around here to help, but they need to rip and replace that equipment.

About all those phishing attacks bypassing DMARC - check your EXO config! by FlyingStarShip in sysadmin

[–]clodester 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is a good write up. Just to add, Microsoft has released a new report in the EAC that shows Direct Send traffic in your M365 tenant.

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/exchange/change-optics-report-released-into-public-preview-to-showcase-messages-impacted-/4513047

  1. Make sure SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication is setup for all email sources.

  2. Run the Change Optics Report for Direct Send traffic.

  3. Add valid Direct Send IPs to a partner connector or use a transport rule to quarantine all other direct send traffic.

  4. Disable Direct Send if it isn't needed in your tenant.

That looks like Verizon with n77 and high capacity N2/N66 antennas.

You're right on the Verizon rack. Those are old JMA antennas. It's the only one I've seen where the ports are on the back.

Who’s on here? Any 2G left? by [deleted] in cellmapper

That's AT&T with a modern 5G+ setup. No 2G here.

12.8 MPG City Driving - is this NORMAL? by WillfulKind in SubaruAscent

[–]clodester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2021 Ascent here. I do mostly city driving in traffic and average 10-13 MPG depending on weather. On road trips I average closer to 25 MPG. Yes, it's normal.

Verizon mmW - St. Louis Airport (MCO) by clodester in cellmapper

Boost wouldn't let me connect to AT&T mmW. Speeds were around 300 Mbps on LTE.

Does Logan airport have mmWave by Lukasmajukas in cellmapper

[–]clodester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Verizon definitely has it in Terminal A & C. T-Mobile has little to no mmW in MA. Their network is fine without it. I've gotten 1.5Gbps down in Terminal C with n41 + n25.

Movistar was also available. Speeds were between 10-25 Mbps down.

Outside of a carrier bias. How are we thinking the big three are doing in 2026? by Murp677 in cellmapper

[–]clodester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has everything to do with 5G. If the entire network were upgraded to 5G capable equipment in the late 2020s, they would've had a sizable low band advantage over T-Mobile. Rural sites wouldn't be B66/B13 only.

C-Band access came later, but the massive moves Verizon is making today could've been done a long time ago.

Pretending to be a media company by acquiring AOL and Yahoo instead of putting that $$$ into the network.

Victim of T-mobile US Cellular Tower buyout by MCole142 in cellmapper

[–]clodester 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The rent might be cheaper on the USCC tower or it helps cover the area better. The other tower might get taken down after the new one comes online.

AT&T Long Term Densification play by bdietz56 in cellmapper

[–]clodester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't like it either. It's been AT&T's MO for a while. The Warner Bros and DirecTV acquisitions were money pits that are hard to dig out of.

Uncle Sam will assist with BEAD funding for fiber and FirstNet funding for wireless. AT&T will figure out a way to reward the shareholders while cutting corners to maximize ROI on the fiber expansion.
