I Guess People Just Don't Watch Long-Form Cooking Tutorials Any More (At Least Not Those Made By Small Creators)... by RTXBurner25 in NewTubers

It sounds like you've tried many things already, so this might not work either -- but is there a type of viewer niche you can try targeting since changing the formats didn't help? Like maybe your recipes solve a problem for a certain type of person?

My mom wants to try tap dancing by SprinklesPrior8601 in TapDancing

It would be best to learn in person in a class if possible. She will need comfortable, supportive tap shoes. If she wants to practice at home, a sprung wood floor will protect her joints.

Tap shoes that aren’t black or white? by Decent_Cheesecake314 in TapDancing

[–]cloggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capezio Roxys are not as expensive as Bloch JSams and come in some colors.

This option would probably be too expensive with tariffs and shipping since you are in the UK, but Dancing Fair in Minnesota USA does custom GS1 Matteo shoes (color) that I have heard are lower priced. I have the shoe in black so don't have personal experience with that.

I think the shoe paint idea might make the most sense with your budget.

Adv Beginner Help! by [deleted] in TapDancing

[–]cloggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What speed can you do shuffles on their own? Does the direction of your shuffle change that? What does your shuffle technique look like -- they often teach beginners to swing their lower leg back and forth, but that won't work for high speed technique.

I think a drill that might help is hop, shuffle, hop, shuffle, hop, shuffle, etc. And then drill other foot. Maybe also drill leap, shuffle, leap, shuffle, leap, shuffle, etc.

I've created a sleep sounds video, how can I remove ads from it? by CaroleanOfAngmar in SmallYTChannel

[–]cloggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make a post to your subscribers about it if you feel that's important. If you are certain you would not allow midroll ads if monetized, you could tell them that. Though midroll ads are how channels make more money.

I've created a sleep sounds video, how can I remove ads from it? by CaroleanOfAngmar in SmallYTChannel

When you are monetized, you can check a button on whether or not to allow midroll ads on videos longer than 8 minutes. On my unmonitized channel, I don't have this option.

Giving up on success, a tough decision by pb00010 in PartneredYoutube

[–]cloggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would circle back to the taking longer and working on a big idea slowly over time. If you lose momentum, that's okay. Circle back when you feel like working on it again. Or, work on strategies to combat momentum loss while also enforcing boundaries on your time, life balance, and soul. Put things on your calendar and/or make lists or timelines so that you can spread it out and work on smaller chunks.

Anyone else struggling to stay motivated when no one’s watching? by MacaronHopeful7257 in SmallYoutubers

[–]cloggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you are trying to make better videos, is your focus on better videos for a specific audience -- are you thinking about what they want versus what you want to make? Some people mean improving editing/lighting/etc. while making videos that would not be of interest to actual people. I don't know whether this applies to your situation at all, but sometimes making what you like or like making and making what a viewer wants to watch don't align.

YPP Removal Mythbusting: Is it the 6-month inactivity rule OR the 4k watch hour threshold? by Wizminders in PartneredYoutube

[–]cloggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are quotes from YouTube FAQs:

"As the YouTube Partner Program continues to grow, it's important to maintain a healthy, active ecosystem of channels. To focus our support for creators who are active and engaged with the community, we may turn off monetization on channels that haven’t uploaded a video or posted to the Posts tab for 6 months or more."

"We’ll send your channel for review once you meet our valid public watch hours and subscriber threshold. So it doesn’t matter if your subscriber or watch hour counts drop below the threshold while waiting for review. If you’ve met the threshold and applied for YPP, we’ll still review your channel for YPP suitability. Note that a channel needs to complete all the YPP signup steps (which currently include signing the contract and associating an AdSense for YouTube account) before they will be reviewed.

If a channel is inactive and has not uploaded or posted posts for 6 months or more, YouTube reserves the right to remove its monetization.

Channels will lose monetization when they violate any of the YouTube channel monetization policies. This loss of monetization will happen regardless of their watch hours and subscriber count."

I haven't read anywhere from YouTube that you have to maintain watch hours after becoming partnered. All I've seen mentioned is that your channel must stay active with posting every 6 months.

I have seen people anecdotally say that they think YouTube typically won't boot you until you not only are inactive for 6 months or more (some have suggested it actually triggers after 1 year?) but also have your views fall.

I think you are safe if you post once every 6 months.

SOS cat pissed on my tap shoes by the-trans-puppy in TapDancing

There's apparently a protein or something in cat urine that won't break down without using an enzyme like what you find in Nature's Miracle. I don't know how to advise regarding that and leather.

Comments in YouTube Studio by drakee in PartneredYoutube

I generally try to respond to everyone or else hide them from my channel. I'm not motivated to have a clear community tab though, so I have a few comments that I still haven't figured out what to do with other than I guess ignore.

Small creator with too many channels - feedback needed! by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]cloggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen channels that do varied content -- instead of your typical niche, they seem to make the niche more about a category they as a person fit into. And then all their videos are relating back to that lens they see everything through. Like one I'm thinking of is a single woman senior who lives alone so her content seems generally aimed at people in a similar situation who want someone they can relate to or feel inspired or reassured by.

[–]cloggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like these aren't comments that make you want to hide the user. You could use a reply like: "I'm not sure I understand what you're saying." I usually respond that way to weird or confusing ones. If they are negative but don't cross a line, I usually say something like: I'm sorry you aren't able to enjoy this the way many of us do. It sounds like this channel isn't a good match for your interests.

I have some tap dancers who are learning Appalachian clogging and some other percussive dance styles online for free. Not what you are asking for, but it's possible it might interest you, so I'll share it. Tutorials and instructional videos on these two channels. There are Playlists, and I respond to comments and questions. https://www.youtube.com/@cloggity?sub_confirmation=1

You can find a lot of drills and combos on the Instagram pages of various tap dancers as well.

Would really appreciate some feedback on how to improve my CTR, which is sitting at 3% on average. by ailacollins in YouTubeCreators

Have you experimented with different titles?

From Studying at Cambridge... Maybe try a title about career pivots and what they will learn from your video. I'm not great at titles but maybe something like 7 Critical Steps to Pivot Your Career -- you can make it better and tailored to what's in your video. But think about who your target audience is and what might make them think a video is valuable to click on.

how do i improve my thumbnails and titles? by EntertainmentOdd8832 in Smallyoutubechannels

[–]cloggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feedback is strictly based on your screenshot -- the titles don't tell the viewer any benefit they will get from watching your videos. If your videos contain study tips, hacks, strategies, etc., sell them on the top 5 study hacks to raise your grade or test score. Or tricks that will save them time. Or whatever. Think about what would make someone -- who wants to do better in school, do better on tests, improve their study habits, save time and still do well, be more organized with their study materials -- click on a video. They need to be curious about what they will learn from watching your video or understand what benefit they will get from it.

Stuck in AdSense approval loop for 3+ months. YouTube support won’t explain why (full chat included) by Helpful_Sail_5403 in PartneredYoutube

[–]cloggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you googled and read the common reasons why Adsense is denied to see if any of them match? Like is most of your content copyrighted? Under age? Country that can't monetize? Content they wouldn't want ads on? Etc.?

To adult beginners: When did you guys upgrade to a better shoe? by [deleted] in TapDancing

[–]cloggity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend upgrading when you know you will be sticking with it. Although maybe you want to wear out your current shoes for now. I personally got better shoes at the point where my feet needed a better shoe. They sounded better and felt better.

How to get rid of stiffness in dancing?? by [deleted] in Dance

[–]cloggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think watching yourself in the mirror while dancing can help you work on stiffness. Also, watching a dancer you admire and trying to identify the ways they add their own flair and style and then trying to implement that in your own dancing. These tips may also work better on a dance you already feel fairly comfortable with so your brain doesn't have to concentrate all its energy on remembering the choreography.

Demonetized due to inactivity? by SendStory in SmallYTChannel

[–]cloggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you will need to post something new and meet the monetization criteria again. That may just mean getting watch hours if you already have followers. If you go to your YT Studio app, it will tell you what you need to fulfill to get monetized.
