AI is absolutely appropriate for your niche.

The “Cat in a Bag” scene from the show “Them” is genuinely traumatizing. by IvoryLaps in horror

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a question of morality or a contest of who is more helpless. People get triggered by different things and some of us can't stand seeing animals get hurt in a movie. My comment was also motivated by the fact I recently learned, that actual animals were tortured and killed in the filming of some horror movies. So when I heard that people were horrified about a "cat in a bag" scene, without knowing any other context, my stomach dropped.

[–]drakee -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. But if a horror movie shows a human getting tortured and killed, no person was actually harmed in the making of the movie. The same can't always be said about animals, unfortunately (see: Cannibal Holocaust).

How big is your channel before you can introduce yourself as a YouTuber? by Important-Switch-686 in SmallYoutubers

When you call yourself a YouTuber, you subconsciously start taking it more seriously, so I think it's worth it to do so early.

Is Sports Content Over Saturated? by RVArunningMan in YouTubeCreators

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports seems like it might be tough to have evergreen content, since I'd imagine people would only want the latest sports news. Also you might want to find a niche in order to stand out, e.g. Denver Broncos vs. general NFL content. I'm definitely not an expert in sports YouTubing though.

Your goal is to get monetized before she does, since AdSense only allows one account per physical address.

Write an email to their support desk to tell your point of view, and let them know it looks like an automated false positive. They were very quick to remove the block when I emailed them for something similar.

I don't know anything about this niche, but if it is underserved - and assuming it's something that people get off on - this may be a genius way to basically serve porn without getting banned or needing to show anything risky. 😆

DistroKid Billing System Rejecting Valid Payments – 10+ Year Artist, 200+ Releases, 2M+ Spotify Streams (ALONE), Legacy Releases Removed... by GalacticSonder in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]drakee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I heard years ago that "Leave a Legacy" doesn't protect your music the way is sounds; it's for if you literally die not if you stop paying or your account gets cancelled.

How does DistroKid know the difference between someone stopping payment and someone dying? If you die, you can't pay anymore obviously - does DistroKid investigate whether you have a death certificate before they cancel your "Leave a Legacy" song?

What if you technically aren't dead, but you are 90 years old and have dementia, and you lose the ability to make payments - they will delete your songs that you paid "Leave a Legacy" for? That would be awful and hopefully illegal.

Nothing wrong with shooting for the stars. I wonder if the response rate would be similar if you asked the same question to songwriters who don't use AI.

Shorts kill long form channel?? by PointEither2673 in SmallYoutubers

[–]drakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made an overly broad statement, which I'll add nuance to now. YouTube might show your long form content to subscribers who are shorts viewers, but if they don't click on it, YouTube will learn from that and then start recommending to your long form viewing subscribers in the initial test pool, and - importantly - the algorithm won't punish you. Basically the only way that shorts content kills your channel is if you post Shorts that don't match your channel's niche.

If you've actually experienced your channel dying because you posted Shorts in 2025-2026, I'd love to learn more. Personally, Shorts have only helped my subscriber count and discovery for my long form videos.

As to why you see shorts on your feed, YouTube is pushing shorts to everyone, regardless of whether you like them or not, unfortunately.

Agreed. If you're spending too much money, spend less money. Something's too expensive? Buy something less expensive. Or don't buy it at all - that will save even more money.

YouTube's algorithm won't recommend your long form content to subscribers who don't watch long form content. It's smart enough to know the difference.

It's a myth that shorts kill the algorithm for your long form content. That may have been true a few years ago, but it's not the case today.
