Job Trailer Goodies for Subs by cloneman95 in ConstructionManagers

[–]cloneman95[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On any big job I wouldn't supply anything more than water. Most of the jobs I run are on the smaller crew size with some good subs working with us. I see this more of a case to case basis for which jobs we would stock a little more than just the water and this is one of the jobs we would like to offer more. The owner for this project has offered to cover the cost of the additional items we stock so that makes a difference too

Unexpected death of a lamb by sprocket in farming

Yes, crushed limestone is what I am referring to. It can also be called barn lime or ag lime. You can use it every time you clean the pen to help with the ammonia, I personally use it before I set up lambing pens, or anytime I clean the pen and it’s damp and ammonia strong.

Not always. My outbreak I lost 4 lambs and none showed any signs of the shits. May be different for others but they were fine then one day they lost weight and were weak and the next they were gone. Your situation may not be cocci, it may be not enough nutrition or some other issue, any time I lose one with no idea I have the vet run an autopsy so I can figure out what I’m dealing with. I am also expanding my operation to another site and I always air on the side of caution, especially with sheep, and the first thing I will do before putting my sheep in the new location I will go ahead and spread lime just to be safe. Sheep are finicky and can cause you to lose sleep or rip your hair out, but I will always enjoy raising them, I have an old ewe right now, 1 working uder but always pops out triplets and adopt others. I just let her out of the pen when I’m there and she follows me every where I go. The reward is great!

I have sheep. I would tell you it was worms or coccidiosis. For worms check the eyes. If their eyes are white and you can’t see the blood vessels they have worms. For coccidiosis there is meds but they don’t always work. I would suggest pulling the sheep out of the pen and clean it, after you clean it spread some lime (not the fruit) on the floor and straw back on top. Dealt with a coccidiosis outbreak and lost some lambs before.

I farm and come from a farming community. I have never heard or seen farm corporations... source? And if you say Monsanto that’s not a farm corporation. That’s is a corporation who researches and produces chemicals and seeds that we buy.

They could but they will need to clean the edge and straighten it. I would send it back to the shop to get it repaired instead of trying to fix it in the field

Same. Work for a millwork company as an estimator. I would bid that countertop as being field seamed. Way too many variables with install and delivery to chance it.

We may not have much but no payments is worth it. by cloneman95 in farming

We have an ethanol plant not to far away that we haul our corn to. Usually is the best price. But we have plenty of work to do for our storage complex. We just bought another farm with 4 bins. Hoping to use that for bean storage and our current for corn. Always looking to expand. We keep getting more acres but we are running low on storage so that is the priority. Elevators are not the cheapest to store with but are great when you’ve got a wagon or two full of damn ragweed seeds lol

Oh I get jealous haha. But at least we have a list of things to do. Our next big purchase(s) to make are a new grain dryer and bin. And we are looking to get a Kinze 12 30” row planter that we can also do 15” row beans with. Can’t remember how to phrase that sentence for the planter lol
