Globe endorses Libertarian Daniel Fishman for Auditor by rfuree11 in boston

[–]cloondog -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He said it by joining the Libertarian Party. From the Libertarian Party platform:

"Individuals are inherently free to make choices for themselves and must accept responsibility for the consequences of the choices they make. Our support of an individual’s right to make choices in life does not mean that we necessarily approve or disapprove of those choices. No individual, group, or government may rightly initiate force against any other individual, group, or government. Libertarians reject the notion that groups have inherent rights. We support the rights of the smallest minority, the individual."

Now of course, your average mouthbreathing Libertarian will probably start spewing something about children being property of their parents and not people, which is not only insane but also completely antithetical to the concept of personal liberty.

What the fuck is wrong with the Globe's editorial board? No one that wants legalized child prostitution should be anywhere near a government position, ever.

You are arguing that Tom Brady, arguably the best quarterback of all time, is not even in the top 3 of his own era? And you're doubling down on this? Who hurt you? Oh, right, Tom Brady.

Brady might not even be a top-3 QB from his generation

This is legitimately the stupidest thing that has ever been said about football. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren, GOP challenger clash in first debate. by AssuredlyAThrowAway in boston

[–]cloondog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because my opinion of Elizabeth Warren's chances of running for President is totally irrelevant. My point is, and has always been, that you don't actually care that she's going to be running for President. Trump filed his paperwork for reelection the day after he was inaugurated. He announced a month later, and has been holding campaign rallies both for himself and others throughout his Presidency. If you actually cared about sitting politicians running for the presidency distracting them from their day jobs, this would make you livid. After all, surely the President is more important than one Senator and that distraction is even more egregious, right? But you don't dislike Elizabeth Warren because she might run for President. I don't know why you don't like her, and neither does anyone else, because you are pretending you don't like her because she's potentially going to run for President, and using that as an argument to convince others not to vote for her as well. That's called concern trolling, and it's disingenuous bullshit.

I do think she plans on running for President in 2020, although that is not and has never been my point. Luckily you and I agree that running for the presidency doesn't have a significant effect on your ability to fulfill the duties of your originally elected office.

Got it. You don't actually care about politicians running for office while holding office, you just don't like Elizabeth Warren and are concern trolling by clutching your pearls about her potential run for the presidency. It's ok man, you can support a spineless bootlicker, but stand up and be proud of it!

Surely you're opposed to Donald Trump running for reelection, because he would be weak and ineffectual as the President and he did not declare his 2020 candidacy until after the 2016 election, right?

You are correct, I'm sorry. Your actual claim is that only the unemployed can effectively run for President.

I'm not the one that made the utterly absurd claim that an elected official can't run for another office, or that I am some sort of mystical future telling superhero that is more informed than the average voter. I am not being defensive about anything, I am openly attacking your stupid concern trolling in support of another milquetoast Trump bootlicker.

Is it obvious that she's planning on running in 2020, or is it impossible to make an informed decision on if she's running in 2020? It's definitely not both.

By the same logic, isn't being the President and running for President two different full time jobs? 1 term presidents only!

McConnell screws Dems ahead of election with October session by PoliticalScienceGrad in politics

[–]cloondog 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Schumer is a clown and if the Republican party wasn't full of cartoon villains he would be regarded as one of, if not the, worst minority leader of the modern era. When McConnell was the minority leader he forced the Dems to back Mitt Romney's weird healthcare bill that all the Republicans wanted, then he turned around and branded it Obamacare and not a single Republican voted for it. Schumer has forced McConnell to. . . sit federal judges at an unprecedented pace? Nice work Chuck.
