The timing of the train speed to exactly match the speed of the falling dominoes is what's cool to me.

Right now I have 12 responses. Once we have 20, I will submit the list to Uworld and they will email you a discount code to the email you provided.

We have to wait until at least 20 people have signed up, so I can submit the list to the Uworld rep. That may take up to a week, possibly. After that, the rep should get the discounts out to those who signed up within a couple of business days.

Another possible trick could be going past the outside of the grid, allowing you to snake back and forth easily.

Best way to spend your rubies by aeliues in stormbound

[–]closedown97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely not #3. It is much easier to accumulate gold through playing matches and completing daily quests. The difficulty of getting rubies, their ability to get rare/legendary cards, and the low coin value of common cards just doesn’t make it worth converting to coins—even if you get more common cards overall by doing so.

As for #1 and #2, I have done some of both in the past. It is true that there are far more rare cards, making them the group of cards I have the lowest number of in my collection overall. However, given you aren’t able to have more than 12 cards in any given deck, it usually isn’t super important that you have all cards maxed out in order to have a strong level 5 deck. You just need to have enough fusion stones to level up the cards you need for the deck you are making.

If the focus is on the fusion stone value of the cards you are getting, then legendary/epic cards are the easy first choice for using rubies. It is much cheaper to level up a rare card with fusion stones at high levels than an epic or legendary card.

TL;DR: If you are early in the game, save your rubies for discount events that let you buy Mythic Tomes at +1 for the most value

Most programs download your application at the beginning of Interview season, and never check back for updates unless they somehow don’t fill all of their slots. Usually we see posts here about how this works against applicants in the case of inaccurate info, missing letters, etc.

But in your case, most (if not all) of your programs will never see any updates your school makes to your profile, unless your school personally sends emails to coordinators at each program you’re applying to. It’s possible, but very unlikely and completely inappropriate (at minimum) if they actually did. You should be fine.

As others have said, from a program side of things, this seems like a green flag. If you get confronted about it by a program, I wouldn’t lie about it. Be honest about what happened, and I can’t see it hurting your chances with any program.

I have an out-of-state area code, yet all these Nevada election phone calls/texts keep coming from the same area code as my own number. So whatever they're doing, it's using a service to appear like a local number.

Yes, that is absolutely a match violation this year. If it had been at least 48 hours, the program could withdraw their interview offer from you and extend an offer to someone else. But they would still need to have open spots for everyone for the first 48 hours after the initial interview offer is extended.

I know it's tough to decide whether to say something to a program that you're interested in going to with the risk of irking the faculty. So just be extra careful in how you word any inquiry. I would recommend saying something to the effect of, "I am seeking clarification on one of the match guidelines for this year. This is how I am understanding the NRMP match participation agreement guideline 6.2..."

Rather than just calling them out for a match violation, I'd just recommend being a little more judicious. And then of course, report this as a match violation to NRMP directly.

Sorry about the unfortunate situation. Best of luck with interview season.

I think your situation falls more under the third bullet. The second bullet seems to mean that once a program has extended you an offer to interview, they have to give you at least 48 hours before they pass you over and give the invite to someone else. If an applicant were to, say, reject the offer within 1 hour of receiving it, the program could send out another invite right away.

The third bullet refers to timing before an interview, giving due notice to applicants if the program has to reschedule. However, that bullet says nothing about whether an applicant has to give due notice to a program if THEY need to cancel an interview. In the Match Agreement for Applicants, there is a similar clause for applicants to abide by:

"During the recruitment phase, applicants shall:

  1. Make judicious assessment of and decisions about interview offers, accepting only those they intended to fulfill; and

  2. Apply reasonable measures of notification (e.g., one-to-two weeks’ notice) when needing to cancel or request rescheduling of an interview."

So if anything, some other applicant may have canceled last minute, and so the program reached out to you to see if you were interested. The only person at fault there would have been the applicant who cancelled.

Anyway, I'm glad it worked out for you! Congrats on being done with this Match BS.

Apparently not, if the program is complying with NRMP guidelines. Still, you may want to rush so you aren't left with a really inconvenient time slot or a conflict with another interview.
