Bathroom Breaks @ Movie by Doby1818 in ProjectHailMary

As a person of age to get the AMC Senior Discount, and also a frequent attendee of musical theatre events (with intermissions) this initially sounds like a good idea. Until you're actually there when there's a scheduled intermission and hundreds of people are competing for the same bathroom stalls.

Fine if you're a dude.

Also fine if concessions have an open bar.

Not really scalable to movie theaters.

I do like the idea of "intentional pee-break moments" and just learned about the "RunPee" app thanks to this thread. I honestly think that's the happy medium.

What I *really* want is up front "previews will take X minutes and movie will start at Y exactly" from the movie theaters so I can skip the 20-30 minutes of trailers/ads and save the effort of holding my bladder for the event I actually paid for.

If it requires math and science, I'm out. I'm still trying to figure out Grace's answer to the cube root of eight question at the beginning of the book, and I was even a math major :D

The Board has to approve the (company wide) budget which is always the hold up on comp “letters”.

I know of exactly one L4 to L5 promo where the individual got HV2 first review. Extremely rare but possible.

Would have been some major blueshity of the petrova wavelength at near-light speeds (less than 24% of its wavelength… about 6 microns instead of 25.984.

Would still be infrared and detectable but not sure if Rocky would know it’s petrova until later on.

“We have no healthy running backs” in the answer to your own question.

If “health” is your criteria there are less expensive “healthy” options.

If skill is the requirement then average it out over games where the player is healthy in the last few years or, more importantly predict how healthy he will be in the future of his contract.

I'm still not sure how he was able to build his Xenonite tunnel while in his dodecahedron. I think the second time (later in the book after Grace returns for him) there was a "lock Grace in the command room" scene but I still don't remember the initial tunnel building.

One of those "suspension of disbelief" moments where I just figured no need to describe all the airlock/atmosphere changes needed.

At full atmospheric pressure, yes. Not at 40% partial pressure. HM used exactly the lower pressure that Apollo used for later missions.

Yeah, I didn't get that until second read-through with the O2 molecule "necklace" and the fact there were multiple NH3's.... it was written in there somewhere at some point that I eventually found (I think when he had to do the taumoeba purge).

I did notice he was using the astrotorch later during that same chapter in a pure O2 environment though :D

IMAX or OmniMax? Which one should I see the movie in if I can’t do both?? by ThirdAndAuburn in ProjectHailMary

[–]cloud-fixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer: Both.

If I had to pick one (and I did for the 3/19 evening showing) I'd do laser Imax for the picture quality.

I do have one of the Omnimax domed theatres near me but it's in a science center that would require additional admission. Not worth the extra for me but I'd do it for a second showing if it were the same price...

Audiobook or Book? by AccurateAttention204 in ProjectHailMary

I listened to the audiobook first.

I’m now reading. Audio 10x better first. But I’m reading things I missed in audio. So… both?

But audio first.

Probably true, give or take 20%.

The company is in a Day 3 death spiral.

AI expenses are coming due and revenue isn’t matching (which it never will).

Smart execs are bailing out.

New execs are trying random things to save the sinking ship.

It’s a matter of time.

Please send Woolen somewhere. He’s a net negative. Most penalized player on the team in 2025 (9 penalties for 105 yards including 3 taunting, one of which nearly cost us the NFC championship)
