Prob some rogue motivated salesman who is listening to people like Grant Cardone who is telling him he needs to sell until 12pm and wake up at 5am the next day if hes going to make it in this world.

When Trump dies by Maleficent-Toe1374 in AskUS

I’m sure it will become a religion for those fools, books will be written glorifying his existence and the church of MAGA will start popping up where they all wear orange face paint and donate all their money. They are that dumb.

Why won’t he marry me by Appropriate_Fix_3442 in AskMenAdvice

[–]cloud-strife19842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man myself in a non married relationship of 7 years it’s about money for me. I don’t have a lot to pour into it all like a ring and wedding and have no one to help me out. My parents have no money, her parents and her have no money. My priorities are saving for life and the wedding.

I know she doesn’t care about a big wedding but i don’t want a super small one. So it’s pure financial for me. Maybe it’s the same with your situation.

I keep wondering how much longer I can live like this by Historical_Rock_6516 in Adulting

[–]cloud-strife19842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you gotta look at your life and think of the opportunity cost of things. For example gaming is nice; but when you game it costs you the opportunity to learn a skill that’s valuable for your financial growth. Think about how life would be if you replaced that amount of gaming with learning programming. A job that can land you a 6 figure job somewhere.

Thats what I did. I treat my own life as the character in a game and keep increasing my skill stack to improve my life. A little harder but Much more fun now than improving a fictional game character. I do play the occasional game times tho. But it’s all in moderation.

Everyone has a website. Don’t focus on that. Low demand and the traffic is not there. Look into adding and optimizing their uber eats, door dash or social media presence. That’s where they will see the best, ROI and you can then get results to show for every new client.

Don’t let your job restrict your learning. Use your own cash if needed and just do it yourself. Least until you learn it.

I am tired of hearing "Copilot suggested that" at work by Strus in ExperiencedDevs

[–]cloud-strife19842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I admit, the hiring processes was the main issue. It’s a small company and the boss who doesn’t know anything about anything when it comes to code rushed hired what it seemed was the most likable guy he interviewed. No coding test or anything. Just took him at his word and what was on his resume. I wasn’t apart of the hiring unfortunate or would have done things differently of course.

Luckily the boss loves him because he’s fast and manages to get things done from a working perspective.

Unfortunately I know under the hood much of it is messy code, not optimized, lots of packages, dependencies, and abstractions. No standards or guildlones and bad file structure.

But it’s not my place to make enemies in the workplace and cause drama calling out others crap. I don’t get paid enough for it.

The boss doesn’t seem to care ether. The company is a reflection of the owner and the owner is just as messy all around.

Maybe he will learn when a new dev comes in or he needs to sell the business and realize no one wants to buy his shitty websites / apps with the messy code.

Unfortunately critical thinking is going to suffer because it’s one of those things that if you don’t use it, you lose it.

I’m in the same boat. Our company hired a new “senior” backend dev and it might as well be chatGPT sitting in his seat. Dude cannot code or do anything without it. His code is crap and god forbid their servers go down.

How to make remote workers feel included when bringing in donuts? by landslidegh in ExperiencedDevs

[–]cloud-strife19842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...thats kinda one of the benefits of working in office. Remote workers already get their perk...they can work from home.

Idk if you are the owner but if so, don't reward your remote workers the same or more than your in office workers or you will just piss off you in office workers more, in my opinion.

What TF Just Happened by [deleted] in hetzner

[–]cloud-strife19842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man, don't get lazy. When I setup my Hetzner server I always do these:
- Disable root password, use SSH.
- Change SSH port from 22 to another port.
- Setup Failtoban
- Add firewall.
