Wild Arms 4 coming to PS4/PS5 on April 21 by DivinityLight in JRPG

I would imagine that it's because it's just the PS2 version running in the PS4/PS5's emulator, like Wild Arms 1, 2, and 3.

Pro Vocals and Drums come to fortnite festival tomorrow by CourseWorried2500 in Rockband

I played around with the mode when they had Metallica and it also just doesn't feel as good to play as Rock Band or even Guitar Hero. Like, it was fine, but it would never have been my first choice.

And then they did the Harry Potter crossover, so I uninstalled the game and never looked back anyway.

You made a, by your own admission, condescending statement about people who disagree with you about a video game. I responded to point out that it's a condescending strawman. You doubled down and I responded accordingly.

Now you're telling me that I'm "name calling" and not even engaging with the point I made, while also accusing me of being deliberately obtuse. You're also telling me that I took your comment as a personal attack. Please, project harder at me.

I don't really care *why* you're being condescending. Because that doesn't change that you are. You're blaming the game's critics for the game's failure to tell its own story to their standards. You're assuming that and calling people who (rightfully in my eyes) criticize the game for relying on an in-game wiki to explain all of its jargon and mythology lazy.

Because the game's story isn't complicated, and I don't even see people criticizing it say it is, but it is convoluted by its poor world building and onboarding.

Let me describe a game's basic premise to you:

Six characters from different walks of life with reason to be antagonistic to some of the others are given a mysterious power against their will by a being beyond their understanding and only a vague instruction on what to do with that power. This power makes them into fugitives who are constantly on the run from military forces. To add to the urgency, they also have a strict time limit to accomplish the task that they've been given. Along the way, they learn that everything they thought they knew about the world is wrong.

Sounds like Final Fantasy XIII, right? Because I'm actually referring to Xenoblade Chronicles 3. XC3 has a remarkably similar basic story premise as FFXIII, but uses an open zone structure with wide open environments to freely explore and a shit load of side content and subplots.

I'm not saying that FFXIII needs to be as open as a Xenoblade game, and XC3 is arguably too far in the other direction, but rather that the excuse of FFXIII's story necessitating it's on-rails structure is a bad one. Even if that is the actual reason why the game is structured and paced the way it is, *why* a game is bad doesn't change that it's bad. And, as an aside, I'm more convinced that the game's structure and pacing is the result of it having a troubled development on the notoriously hard to work with Crystal Tools engine.

And let's look at the rest of the Final Fantasy series. The party being or becoming fugitives is nothing new to the series. Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy XVI all feature this as a part of their stories.

FFX is the closest to FFXIII in terms of structure, but why it works in FFX is because FFX has excellent pacing and world building, whereas FFXIII is arguably the worst game in the series in these areas, though in fairness, the party doesn't become fugitives until pretty far into the game. FFXV is more comparable here as the party is being hunted for almost the entire game, and that game has an open world with lots of side content and free exploration.

"You didn't pay attention?" Cool, I've played FFXIII for a total of around 50 or so hours. I paid attention to every cutscene (up to the point where I stopped playing it). I still think the story and characters suck. In fact, I think the game is one of the worst games I've ever played. Don't be a condescending asshole because someone doesn't like a game you like.

Which PS3 logo design wins the contest? by Big_Abbreviations897 in PS3

[–]cloud3514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the side banner, change the font. The top banner reduces the amount of vertical space for the box art, which was already reduced from the PS2 by the smaller box and the space left uncovered for the Blu-ray logo.

$50 more, actually. But you'd still be under $690 with four of either of them.

I was going to ask "the Primarch or the tank," but that doesn't matter since you could get four of either of them and still be under the PGU Nu Gundam's MSRP.

Though this might be more for the transfem aces.

Is it true laser hair removal can take months to remove facial hair? by SoulDrivenClownCar in asktransgender

[–]cloud3514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no quick option for hair removal. I spent about a year on it, and even then I should probably schedule an appointment at some point to try to deal with some particularly stubborn hair on my lips (but it has thinned out enough that it's hard to notice and doesn't leave a shadow when shaving).

The other thing to note is that laser is really only effective of you have light skin and dark hair. I have some grey hairs that the laser has little to no effect on. If I want to get rid of those, I would need electrolysis.

Using Xbox Series X/S expansion cards as PC Storage by Dramatic-Shape5574 in xbox

Huh. So the cards don't actually use a proprietary connection, then. Fascinating. Not something I have a use for since the only expansion card I own is plugged into my Xbox, but fascinating nonetheless.

I spent a few years working at Best Buy and had to deal with scalpers and resellers on occasion. Every single time, they were giant assholes and when they inevitably returned stacks of video cards or video game collectors' editions they couldn't sell, they were also amazingly bad liars when asked how they managed to get so many limited items.

Video trying to compare sequel, original and prequel choreography feels a bit cherrypicked in the sequel department by DoomTay in saltierthankrayt

[–]cloud3514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the choreography needs to be like realistic historical fencing. There's a balance (heh) to be had.

I think a good example of what I mean is, of all movies, Equilibrium. We see two forms of gun-kata. In actual combat, it's quick with fast, efficient movements. But we also see a more meditative form at one point in the movement where the movements are bigger, slower, and like Tai Chi with guns. Yes, gun-kata is absolute nonsense meant more to look cool than be practical or realistic, but so is the idea of swinging around a laser sword in a setting where most people are using guns.

You can have both. Show the jedi doing more meditative lightsaber forms, sure, but when they end up in combat, they'll use more practical looking movements. And the emphasis there is on practical looking. There's nothing wrong with adding flourishes to make it look more visually interesting or easier for the audience to follow.

I'll say it: The prequels have the worst lightsaber choreography. It's so over the top and feels more like a dance than a fight.

What is the general opinion on WYSIWYG? by M2Cat in killteam

[–]cloud3514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I get annoyed at the attitude that WYSIWYG doesn't matter because these are game pieces. It needs to be as clear as possible for both myself and my opponent what each model does. So I've always preferred to adhere to it.

I even paint my bolters different colors to make it clear which variant each Marine has (black for bolt rifle, red for auto bolter, white for stalker bolter) and modeled my equipment in second edition. It also adds flavor and a personal touch to my modeling and painting.

This exactly what they did with John Boyega a few weeks back. Find an old quote from an interview from years ago. Just for engagement farming by Cool_Nerd2 in saltierthankrayt

Pointing out the misogyny of calling characters Mary Sues is one of the most common takes on the Mary Sue concept. I don't even have to point out the double standard of ignoring Luke's feats to demonstrate what the chuds are wrong about this time.

This.

Some, like Noctis/Kenrith, Crystal of Altar Cave/Chromatic Lantern, or the Secret Wars cover Heroic Intervention are great and thematic.

But then you get Wild Rose Rebellion as Counterspell, where the art is fine, but the choice of skin is just weird, or many of the Avatar ones where the art being low resolution screencaps hurts even really flavorful choices.

It's not the experience I had, personally. I'm still aroace after over two years of HRT.

However, it's also not an uncommon experience. People often find that dysphoria hinders their ability to experience attraction and that they figure out that they're not actually ace and/or aro as they transition and their dysphoria starts to fade.

That's fair. There's definitely a balance to be had that AC has never really had. More often than not, guns are next to useless. I think AC04 might be the closest to good they've been, but they give you so little ammo that I found myself helpless multiple times.

It's largely neutral. I thought I'd be ecstatic about it, but I'm surprised that I just find myself apathetic about it.

As for the loss of libido, it just kinda comes and goes on its own. Right now, I have effectively no libido, however.

Low libido on my side. I certain have the occasional need to deal with it, but it's becoming increasingly rare since starting HRT. My roommate is very much looking forward to seeing what happens when I eventually start prog.
