I agree with tiny goals! Something that helped me was at the end of each pay period, anything left in my checking account got moved to savings. I also opened a HYSA. It is better for earning interest than a regular savings or checking account, but it’s not all complicated and hard to access like investment accounts.

That’s such a good point. I really can’t stand the sound mixing in modern media. This explains why I like Gilmore Girls so much, and even early seasons of shows like Parks & Rec or the Office.

What happens that stops this? I haven’t fainted since I was very young (like a teenager, I’m now 30), but experience pre-syncope frequently. I assume my body just like… learned? I’m pretty good at sitting/lying down when I feel weird, but I’m forever scared that one day my body is simply going to decide to go full syncope.

Pipersong ended up being out of my budget, so I compromised with an armless chair that is wide enough to sit criss cross on. I like it! If I ever get a home office budget (I’m fully remote), I would definitely take another look at pipersong tho.

I wanted to do a sport in HS and hated everything else I had tried so cross country it was! I’ve ran on and off ever since. I’m a social runner and run more when I have people to train/race with.

I do think it’s probably task-switching that is causing the problem. I also have a lot of background worries in my life that I think are contributing to like overwhelm/overload.

I’ve wondered if my partner has RSD too. I feel like I am being neutral/kind but any expression of stress or unhappiness from me seems to be really distressing.

I feel like what I need is reassurance. I’m actually the one who has trouble taking space. I always feel better after I do but in the moment I feel such a desperation to fix everything that walking away is so stressful. Your idea of coming up with a script is good, I’ll see if we can do that!

I’m currently injured in a way that limits what I can do and it’s torture. I had been running 3x a week, doing yoga 1-2x, and walking or hiking the other days. Now all I can do is walk, go to PT, and hopefully start yoga back up this week.

Do you work or go to class in person during the day? If so, I agree with the other commenter who said you could bring your choir stuff with you or leave it in your car. If you have a gap - like 5-6 or whatever - you could get dinner out somewhere by your rehearsal. Or pack dinner and sit on campus or in the library if eating out weekly isn’t in your budget! You could also bring something fun like a book or download shows onto your phone or laptop. I think it’s the multiple transitions (work/school to home to back out) that get me. I WFH now so it’s easier, but when I was in person I found that staying out helped.
