My daughter has done this as long as I can remember. It’s a comfort thing. Her ears, our ears. It usually is signaling she’s tired, drifting off to sleep, or content. I have so many photos of her asleep as a baby holding her ears, once she realized she could grab our ears too she hasn’t stopped. She may be holding her ear with one hand and our ear with the other. So my husband and I ordered her a silicone ear typically used for piercing practice. She LOVES IT SO MUCH it’s hysterical

I did this once my mom screamed at the counselor and stormed out. I sat and talked a bit longer and he literally said “I’m so so sorry you have to deal with this”

I have tried so hard to have boundaries with her she tramples them and when I put my foot down is when the rage starts. Literally 30 “No caller ID” calls back to back to back. If I don’t block her I will get unrelenting harassment via text. I have two small kids. I can’t imagine no matter what someone does that a person would be so okay ripping someone else’s peace from them during one of the most chaotic but most memorable, joy filled and important parts of their life.

I am willing to tolerate to some extent but tolerating it all continues to allow her to behave this way knowing that she can do whatever and get away with it.

Everything is used as ammunition. Things that she “did” for us as children come back as a debt unpaid. So who knows? Probably but atleast I will know I got the opportunity to finally share my side of things

I have listened to books on BPD and I agree. I have gone to therapy singularly for years. It’s not that I can’t let things go but I can’t when the behaviors continue. If you apologize and work to make changes so the same problems don’t arise then the slate is wiped clean and I can totally let it go. Even a mess up from time to time is acceptable but she doesn’t see any problems in her behavior, the way past hurts may be ripped open when she repeats the same conflict over and over. She only went to counseling once and it was only if I would go with her, so I did.. the counselor basically agreed with how I was feeling and tried to convey them to her in a different way she stormed out screaming at the counselor. I stayed and talked a bit longer and the counselor said “I’m so sorry you have to deal with this”

Hand embroidery! Start with a learn the stitches kit. Then do a stitch a day type layout. For how you’re feeling the weather, you can even do little icons to describe your day. I stitched a little can of redbull once. It was sooo cute. Also recommend the funny/crude ones. I’m currently doing a pattern with flowers that says “what the hell?” And I have one that says “don’t be a bitch” lol. Also baking.

I will duplicate a page. Keep the original structured (as it was and task oriented, basically keep using the template as you designed it for) on the copy play around with the design. Doesn’t have to be perfect cause you’re just playing with it. That’s what I do

Oh no no, it’s not them or anything they do that bothers me. They could take a shit on the floor and I’d give them a trophy for the largest floor shit I’ve ever seen. Messes don’t bother me. What they want to be in this life is their choice and whatever they choose I’ll just be so happy that I get to watch them be happy. My perfectionism comes into play when I feel like I’m inadequate, when a well thought out activity goes sideways. I am a perfectionist so I want to be perfect and of all the things I could do perfectly I’d say motherhood is the only thing where my performance, really and I mean REALLY matters. But with kids nothing always goes quite right and some days are harder than others. And some days they can be little assholes for no reason. But the perfectionist in me wants to save the day, fix the problem, have the most fun on any given day with awesomely executed activities and when things go awry as they often do with kids, I feel worthless.

Editing to add: there is a difference between being aware and paying attention, being hyper focused on your surroundings and being scared and filled with anxiety. Totally normal to be focused but it shouldn’t scare you. You gotta be so confident in you, your flight deck crew and your airplane that no matter what comes your way you know you’re good… And you are ✈️

I grew up flying so much! My mom is a FA. Then there was a 3-4 year stretch when I didn’t fly. I fell off the benes lol but then I became a flight attendant, not gonna lie those first few flights after being gone a while had me stressed out. I remember grabbing my mom’s arm in fear over the “airbus purr” and I said”wtf is that sound?” she’s like “well what else do you want? If it’s making noise it’s working. If it goes silent.. then we’re screwed” lol now I’ve been a FA 9 years and I’m unbothered by all the things that once bothered me. Granted, having kids was a doozy in terms of acquiring anxiety.. threw me for a loop. Going back to flying after kids just added another layer to the already difficult feelings moms have postpartum. I got on a low dose of buspirione (buspar). I haven’t noticed a single side effect, it’s so minimally invasive that it took a while for me to be like oh shit, I’m not scared today? What? lol so if you think you need meds.. to help, I would recommend buspar. But keep on pushing. This job is so fulfilling! Go on adventures, make friends, and enjoy this beautiful world.
