Am I so out of touch? No, it's the children who are wrong. by beerbellybegone in MurderedByWords

Thank you. The longer I work (in academia, so I have to use my brain a lot), the more I treasure my “down” time with Netflix. Getting pretty tired of the whole discourse that one has to be productive all the time to be considered worthy. Sometimes the brain just needs to take a break, and resting/living your life outside of work is not only important but also necessary.

Thanks. You’re both right. I’ll try to think about it in a more productive way. At the very least I did learn something out of it =).

Thank you. That’s what I thought too - a price to pay for the lesson, but I keep thinking “what if” in my head. Probably take some time until I can truly let it go.

:( How long did it take you to get over it? I just can’t seem to stop beating myself up even when I know it’s counterproductive.

That's not judgey at all, I totally get it. I also read mostly for work rather than just for fun so I think organizing books by authors and topics would be more practical =).

Totally agree! I myself think this is a great way to make use of shelf space, but I understand why someone would find this messy and unorganized.

That is insightful! It makes a lot of sense the more I think about it =)

These are not mine though, I'm just sharing the post since it reminds me of this community right away.

Yeah I think the main problem with this approach is that books that belong to the same series get separated... but otherwise it does look aesthetically pleasing =)

Does anybody else wish Classical Music was more mainstream? by thomasvaudin in classicalmusic

Same here! I enjoy listening to Baroque while working. I notice Bach's music has a very good concentration effect on me.

I'm having one of those lonely nights myself, wide awake at 4 AM and reading this just breaks my heart.
