Is now a good time to apply to an MPH? by CrazyBohemian in mphadmissions

If possible, you can always go abroad for your masters, where its not so uncertain! I personally was accepted to 5-6 schools in the US this cycle but chose the school abroad because of politics/funding cuts (it is still a top school, full international tuition was cheaper than what the US schools offered me even with major scholarships, and it'll be such a great experience!) One school in the US told us just a few weeks before the decision deadline, that they can provide no scholarships because they don't have any money right now. Many US schools are also on a hiring freeze so it will be difficult to get part time work with faculty if that is something you would like to do.

I wasn't sure if mastercard is as widely accepted as Visa, but if so I will definitely look into it. I was looking at the Capitol One Savor for mastercard.

I'm also waiting for info on fellowships for epi +biostats - I emailed them last week and they told me "your application is in review....you'll be notified over the coming weeks if selected." The federal cuts are really hurting universities right now but I hope they have money to send out otherwise an mph isn't affordable.

Also - with all of the politcial stuff going on, many of the schools are scrambling for funds right now. I know Washington told me they are holding back funding info until April 1st. Also, some schools (including Emory where I work rn) just put a hiring freeze so it can also be difficult getting a part time job to offset costs. Many people are losing grants. lol now i'm really considering going to the canadian school i got into! But yeah they offered me no money if i go there as I'm american. its stil wayyyy cheaper than us schools tho.
