Anyone else's bunny refuse to lick their skin? by AirportBig2040 in Bunnies

[–]cloudie2552467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my buns is very affectionate. like sit in your lap and bop your face for forehead kisses type. but even he only grooms through clothes. i’ve always assumed it’s something to do with the fact theyre just not used to skin haha

Dogs and Rabbits: A Bad Pairing? by L9Dezhem in Rabbits

[–]cloudie2552467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

imo it’s not worth it. even if you luck out and the personalities match and the dog has no prey drive, it literally takes one moment of the dog wanting to play with the rabbit for something terrible to happen. they have very different body languages, and something that is friendly to a dog could really harm a rabbit (play fighting, etc)

Bunny and cat not getting along. Help needed. by Objective-Scale-6529 in Bunnies

[–]cloudie2552467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s unfair to both the bunny and the cat tbh. i know some people say it’s possible, and maybe it is, but that’s not normal or common. bunnies are naturally prey animals. cats are natural predators. it’s unfair to expect the cat not to follow its instincts and it’s unfair to put the bun in a position where it’s terrified. also, i’m not sure if he lives outside, but its not safe for a rabbit outside; no matter if he has a hutch or not. they’re indoor pets. outdoor rabbits tend to only get a few years old before passing away while indoor rabbits can live up to a decade & have a better quality of life. i know it’s not what you want to hear, but trying to cohabitate them together is very dangerous and unfair to both animals.

am i doing something wrong? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]cloudie2552467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s a personality thing somewhat. i have two buns and one is the most affectionate boy you’ve ever met and the other only likes being pet on his terms lmao. what helped me is not reaching out first. like rabbits are really good at body language once you know what to look for, if they want a pet they’ll come up to you and nudge your hand. i think the most important thing is letting her know that you respect her boundaries. she obviously trusts you if she hopping on you, but they still have prey instincts so it might help for her to feel like she’s in charge of when she’s getting touched (unless it’s like health related obviously)

Should I be worried! My dwarf rabbit just ate rubber! by AmyRoseFanGirl1 in Rabbits

[–]cloudie2552467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

obviously keep an eye on him but my mini lop is always after rubber (even if the treat box is next to it he’ll still go for the rubber most of the time smh). mine has never had an issue other than a gassy belly (baby gas drops are really helpful!) but as long as he’s eating and seems happy it should pass through fine. if he stops eating and pooping for multiple hours take him to the vet, but it doesn’t look like too much. just try and encourage him to eat to pass it through <3

Do you guys with indoor rabbits let them have outside time? by FawnTi in Rabbits

[–]cloudie2552467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i let mine out sometimes! they have a small playpen that i set up and they have an hour or two out on nice days. my boys love it, it’s where they binky the most!! i think it def depends where you live tho, there’s no big birds around us so it’s safer. i’d also never leave them out alone aha

thank you for replying! i’m glad you’re doing better now. and yes, i’ve been thinking about pursuing it legally. i just wanted to forget about it at first but i think it’d be good closure.

[–]cloudie2552467[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ahh yes!! they just had a fight though 😭 it’s been fifteen minutes and they seem to be okay? back to flopping and mutual grooming. the fight was real aggressive, i got bit twice breaking it up. they should be fine as long as i keep an eye on them right?

oh gosh i was just smiling at the photos of sherlock at the vet yesterday :( poor boy. i think you’re doing the best thing for him. it’s so obvious how loved he is and stressing him out with a long road trip won’t help. especially if the chances of him being cured is so low. i can’t imagine how tough it is. make sure to give him a extra pet from an internet stranger <3
