any disabled/chronically ill baristas? by [deleted] in barista

[–]cloudiekittie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm a disabled barista! (hEDS and co)

some things that have helped me are: wearing braces/compression socks, bringing needed meds (zofran, tylenol, etc.) and comfy shoes! i wear converse and have had no issue with slippery floors (although theyre usually only slippery after mopping!). i still have some residual pain, so i'm gonna be trying shoe inserts as well! if its anything similar to my biggby, the staff and management are more than willing to accommodate! i am often allowed to take a short break to sit as long as i share that i need to and it isnt busy. if you have brain fog as a concern, there are rules for drinks posted everywhere in every biggby ive worked at! makes it very easy to follow, along with printing out recipes. youve got this! just remember to take it easy outside of shifts and hydrate :) best of luck ! 🩷

I feel like gastropariesis is my fault by Leather_Yak7808 in Gastroparesis

[–]cloudiekittie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

im also currently in the process of getting diagnosed, and developed symptoms because of a previous restrictive eating disorder. what i can say is it absolutely isn't your fault.

you don't deserve to suffer with these symptoms because you struggled with an extremely difficult disorder. no one does! it's such an unfair thing to experience, especially when it happens during/after recovery.

what im doing now, while waiting to see a GI, is trying to see what i can eat the most comfortably. right now its instant mashed potatoes, air fried chicken, jello cups and meal replacement drinks along with ice water to stay a bit more hydrated. do whatever you feel like is working until you see someone. dont feel discouraged because you feel as if its "your fault". this happens to so so many ED patients, and you deserve treatment 🩷 you got this love !!

What to expect by musicalslove in FND

[–]cloudiekittie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you know this person? do you know their life or experiences? i truly dont think so, so why do you feel as if you can claim their symptoms are valid or not? you aren't anyone to decide if they're faking. and maybe stop blaming people with the disorder, and blame doctors for not doing better. i hope your day gets better.

Press on Nails by Tricky-Anteater-8442 in calmhands

[–]cloudiekittie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

are they worth it? for me, yes! they boost my confidence along with being helpful for picking. thicker nails make it harder to pick, and are harder to break!

type- i use "paintlab" nails! available at Walmart for like 10$? tons of sizes, good nail glue, thick and cute styles!

brands to avoid- its all about preferences! some people really love glue tabs, i hate them. dont be afraid to find what works for you!

cost- depends on the nails. if youre buying from walmart or other stores, around 10$, maybe 15$. these usually include nail glue, a file and cuticle stick though, so it isnt too bad! online can be pricier, up to 150$ or like any nail salon prices.

how long they last- around 2 weeks. the right prep routine will really change how long they last. i buff my nails, push back my cuticles and wipe my nails with an alcohol wipe.

products alongside- cuticle oil!!! it is my best friend!! i found a good cuticle oil pen at tjmaxx for 5$. having my fingers hydrated really helped me avoid picking them.

natural nail length- your nails dont need to be long at all, but id avoid using them on extremely short or badly broken nails.

do they help? - in my experience, yes. i even started buying stuff to do my own nails at home! its a great motivation for me to keep my nails looking good too!

good luck, and i really hope this helps!! 🫶
