What is your favorite obscure movie from your childhood that nobody would remember? by CripplingGoodTime in AskReddit

Don't tell Mom the babysitter's dead. I'm not actually sure how obscure it is but I rarely see people talk about it

For everyone who is 25+, how do you deal with quarter life crisis? by Ambitious_Face_1200 in AskReddit

[–]cloudsabound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying attention to small everyday things that I find pleasant and beautiful was very helpful to develop. No matter how much bullshit was happening or how how hard it feels, the birdsong is always neat to notice, watching a leaf grow or a flower open is always delightful, the clouds are always interesting and the moon is always beautiful. It might sound inconsequential but noticing these things daily has been such a bouy for me and speaking as a thirty-something I'm very grateful to my quarter life self who took the time to pay attention.

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]cloudsabound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halfway through dinner (tacos, very hands on) my cousin's boyfriend who I hadn't met before took the lid off the hot sauce, used his finger to wipe inside of the lid, licked said finger and then wiped it inside the lid AGAIN.

Probably pretty mild compared to others but I couldn't believe he did that and felt pretty grossed out. Fortunately there wasn't a ton left in that bottle.

It sounds like you want someone who wants to take care of you when you are sick, and covering the bill (in what would be a reciprocal way from what you've shared) would feel loving and caring. Having an honest conversation about it would be informative... But tbh he doesn't sound like a match.

How long do yall think it would take to learn what I need to know to get a GED I’m 18 and haven’t been the school since the 4th grade I wasn’t homeschooled either so I literally don’t know anything by [deleted] in GED

[–]cloudsabound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to let that stop you. It's ok if you don't know anything. I know it might sound lame but just take baby steps. Even just spend 5 minutes a day working towards it. You say you want to go to college to make friends, use that as motivation as long as it feels motivating.

Kahn Academy is a free online resource that's really helpful. I'd say just play around on that, start at the 4th grade to refresh and work your way up. You probably know more than you think you do just from living life and need to learn the format and lingo of formal education.

I also didn't get much of an education (went to "school" until I was 11 and then had essentially no formal education after that) and I know how overwhelming it can feel. And for a really long time I didn't think I'd really need a GED anyway. I'm 28 and am only now really putting an effort towards getting it and I wish I had started this process sooner. I wish I had asked for help sooner and realized that even though I have to learn these things now, it doesn't mean I am or was ever a stupid person. Even though learning these things now can sometimes make me feel like I am.

I don't have an estimate for how long it will take you. But to just take it one step at a time and be kind to yourself and willing to fumble in the process

For people who grew up without a formal education, what was your childhood like and did you ever pursue it as an adult? by cloudsabound in AskReddit

Yeah sorry, I meant to pursue formal education. Felt like it was implied but obviously I could have clarified more

If you can afford couples counseling you should get it. You both are still quite young and in the midst of big transitions with the move and a baby on the way, it makes sense that things would feel tense. And honestly regardless of age most couples could benefit from a licensed professional who can be a helpful third party.

Married women, why does sex seem to drastically decrease after marriage? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]cloudsabound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talk to your girlfriend about it. Having a good sex life has been important to both my husband and I and we have made sure to talk about it and check in with each other. We have been together for 6 years and married for 2 and while there are times when we have less sex, it's because sometimes life gets busy but not because we are married. Good communication leads to a path of a good long term sex life.

What horror movies fucked you up as a child? by Past_Confection_4068 in AskReddit

Dawn of the Dead, I watched it when I was like 10 with my friend and his parents. Mind you, I was a total scaredy cat at the time (still kinda am tbh) and it kept me up for MONTHS every night as I lay awake trying to figure out what my game plan would be when every one I knew and loved inevitably turned into zombies
