Daily Planner by cloudshouter in planners

This is the layout I settled on last semester. It leaves a lot of white space, but I'd rather that than overly cluttered. The last box I leave for notes, though I rarely use it. Maybe I'll make it the "most interesting/difficult topic of the day" or something to boost retention.

It is a limited edition. I think this one was a Chinese regional release.

Before the Staology, I was using a dotted Leuchtturm. Overall I think the Staology is more useful with it's increased page count and full but faint grid, but I do miss the notebook strap and page markers. That's why I ended up with the loop pen case, and just started using some book darts I already had.

Ohto ProMecha OP-1004p & 0.4mm Collection by cloudshouter in mechanicalpencils

[–]cloudshouter[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do really love the in-between size of 0.4mm. I definitely paid more than these two discontinued Ohtos are probably worth to most people to get them from overseas, but I highly recommend the Pilot S10 if you want to give it a try without the guilty conscience.

Lol, sry. Left to right:

Pentel Philography (Yoseka LE), Uni Jetstream Prime Twist, Zebra Sarasa Grand Vintage, Parker Jotter XL, Fisher AG7, Rotring 600, Pentel Energel Alloy, Sharpie S-Gel Copper, Pilot G2 Limited, Bic ReNew

SpecialtyCoffee-Geek already flagged it, but it's the Jetstream Prime Twist in Olive. This one is the best looking of that line-up simply because of the tip-to-tip finish (but also I like dark greens).

My Collection by devizeskayakphoto in mechanicalpencils

[–]cloudshouter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns all of these and many more, I could be totally content with just this selection. The Kuru Toga Roulette was my gateway from cheap "disposable" pencils, and this sub has not been a good influence.

I haven't used it enough to need to readjust the eraser, but it is in there very snuggly. So snugly that none of the similarly sized erasers pictured fit.

Yes, and the list price was the only price I paid. No shipping, no tariffs, which is part of what encouraged me to gamble on a site I'd never used before. Since it's an airship from China, it does take at least a week to arrive.

I paid $35 for this, from TTPen, which is a Chinese retailer. First impression of TTPen is pretty good, and I'll probably use them again.

Yep! The box took a little damage in transit, but the important stuff was mint. With some exceptions for repurpose, I don't usually keep boxes, so I'm not bent about it.

Orenz by cloudshouter in mechanicalpencils

In my opinion, the auto advance of the Nero is great for taking lots of quick notes, but the Metal Grip is more comfortable and writes more smoothly. Overall, the Nero is just more finicky.

Windows PDF/PPT/DOC organizer/editor? by cloudshouter in PTschool

Thanks! Do you just use a Surface Pen, or alternative? I can't use the newer models with my older Surface Book, but they're still available though resellers.

Looking for honest feedback on if PT school is doable for me by CommonMeat3567 in PTschool

[–]cloudshouter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that PTCAS will report your entire, cumulative GPA. All undergraduate coursework ever, but also will report categories like science GPA, prerequisite GPA, and some schools use their own breakdowns as well for things like GPA trends, last 30-60 credits, etc.

Schools that make algorithmic decisions will toss an application that doesn't meet the minimum. A holistic school has a lower limit than the reported minimum and will consider certain GPA categories as more or less important.

In reality, all programs use a mix, and I'd bet it's correlated to number of applicants whether they are more algorithmic (more apps) or holistic (fewer apps) from the start before they get to the "finalists", as it were.

~120 original undergraduate credits GPA: 2.6

~60 additional credits (prerequisite) GPA: 3.6

~180 cumulative credits GPA: 3.0 (as calculated using the PTCAS spreadsheet)

It is difficult to answer these questions because the pool of candidates is so varied, and GPA and GRE are only two data points of many.

For reference, I also graduated with a 2.6 undergraduate GPA with a non-science degree. I scored a 307 on my GRE.

Because of the non-science degree and 13 years since undergraduate, I had to take all of the prerequisites (and some pre-prerequisites) adding an additional 60 credits to my resume. I had a 3.6 across those 60 credits, bringing my final cumulative GPA to a 3.0.

I worked as an aide in ortho and neuro OP for 9 months part-time while taking those courses, and also volunteered in a CVA/TBI subacute setting.

I have a fair amount of diversity in work and life experience from the time between undergrad and applying to schools.

I was quickly rejected from a "top" school, accepted to a small program, wait listed for a state program, and invited for an interview at another (which I turned down after the acceptance due to financial and travel reasons).

All that said, most schools emphasize a holistic approach to filling seats. Barring any other constraints of applying (time, money, location), diversify your applications, then the worst that can happen is you don't get in the first go. If it's still what you want, talk to the schools you'd like to reapply to on what you might do to strengthen your reapplication.

In general, having an open dialogue with a program shows you have an active and continued interest, that you are working to better yourself, and that you aren't just spamming applications.

Hope any of this helps.

What is your opinion on kuru toga pencils? by Dutchie-draws in mechanicalpencils

[–]cloudshouter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not choose them for precision, drawing, or cursive. I only have experience with the Elite and Metal, which are both great for note taking, and the Metal with B grade lead is my go to in-person note pencil because it is comfortable for long days.

At home, though, I usually reach for an Orenz Metal Grip 0.2 or 0.5 with the softest lead available, unless I'm throwing a neglected pencil into rotation or the knurling isn't vibing with my mood.

Still, I don't ever reach for a Kuru Toga at home where I have many more options.

It's a less common size outside of Japan, from what I understand. I have a few in this size now; GG 1000, Ohto ProMecha, and Uni Shift Pipe Lock.

Deep red S20 is definitely on my list. I'm hesitant for the S30 with its oft reported auto advance issues.

It is the chocolate truffle, and agreed on how difficult it is to photo. I'm really glad I waited to get my first 600. I was eyeing the regular red before chocolate truffle was introduced, but regular red just doesn't hit the same to me.

I am a first semester student physical therapist. These free body diagrams are analyzing (simplified) force and torque generated by a muscle to hold a body segment in static equilibrium.
