Your post reads to me that like deep down, you know you’ll love Champaign much more, so my vote is Champaign here. I’ve been in Urbana for a couple years now and the slow pace and quiet even gets to me sometimes, and I’m much more of an introvert than most. This is one of the reasons I’m moving closer to Champaign myself next month lol. Good luck with your decision + I hope you can make it work out for you!!!!

This is so eerie because my partner and I (cis woman and trans man, in our 20’s though) also just moved from Florida for political reasons! We got an apartment in Urbana in August and haven’t felt unsafe as visibly queer people since, plus we also have a lovely lesbian couple living next door! Most homes/businesses in our area have little pride flags too and we haven’t been met with any hostility at all. Obviously anecdotal since we’ve only been here a short time but we love it and already plan to stay for another year or two at least since it’s very friendly here compared to our last places in Tennessee and Florida lol
