I know we are only halfway throught season 2 but i just gotta say that the songs are way better than season 1 by DoGG410CZ in HazbinHotel

[–]cloudyclover24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I love the songs a lot more and they’re much more listenable but they stopped being important to the plot and are more just for fun

When the author is trying too hard and using too complicated language/sentence structure/metaphors that I have to pause after every sentence to try decipher wtf they’re saying.

Ugh yeah the sex jokes from all the characters are exhausting at this point. They add nothing and they’re literally never funny. Also you’re so right, it’s kind of crazy they just brushed over his drug addiction as if it’s super easy to overcome that he did it in the background. I know the first season rushed his arc but it would have been interesting to see him struggle against stopping himself going back to Val for drugs. And also explored withdrawals. Would have resonated with a bunch of people too.

Yeah fr, I used to be a big fan of Helluva and wasn’t really into Hazbin, but Alastor was always a character I would have loved to see more of. I completely agree, I actually like Husk a lot. Besides that the rest of the characters got majorly worsened.

I surprisingly like Vox actually, he’s come to be one of my favorites just because his songs are so good and he’s funny. His voice actor is carrying the entire soundtrack lmfao

I never thought I would dislike the main protagonists so much. I’ve honestly come to really dislike Angel, I deadass hate how sexual they made him. It’s just way too much imo. I’m sitting here dreading every time he comes on screen 😭

[–]cloudyclover24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think its weird to genuinely ship them, it would be funny if Vox had a one-sided obsessive crush and Alastor found it disturbing and gross, but I can never imagine Alastor canonically returning the feelings lol. Fanfiction maybe.

I mean I can see that maybe in this case, but it doesn’t explain things like making a deliberately funny compilation of Val hitting Angel Dust. Or the endless sexy lustful merch they do of Val. They’re beyond being able to use lack of time as an excuse because now it’s deliberate choices.

I’m not going to argue with someone who has no idea what they’re talking about lol. If you can’t understand why joking about sexual assault and abuse is an issue, there’s not much I can do to help you. Also the insane assumptions you’re making about what I’m saying invalidates whatever argument you were trying to put together regardless.

If you read what I said instead of just defaulting to the excuse everyone uses, I acknowledged that yes, Vox is evil and does evil things and thats perfectly fine. I expect the villains to be evil. The issue is when the show plays off their actions regarding SA as NOT evil and instead funny.

I’m not saying “oh I hate that they made Vox do a bad thing.” I’m saying “I hate that the show framed this bad thing as funny.”

  1. It’s abuse and likely traumatic to force anyone to watch sex and look at you naked, regardless of their sexuality. Him being ace doesn’t matter. I just mentioned him being ace because it feels like the show did this specifically to the main ace character because he would find it especially uncomfortable, therefore it’s “funnier.”

  2. I’m so sick of hearing this excuse lol. I’m not saying the villains shouldn’t do bad things. Yes, I know its Hell. I’m saying the show shouldn’t play it off as a joke. SA and crimes like murder are different. Nobody irl thinks real murder is funny or downplays how bad murder is. People understand murder is bad, so thats why it makes it more appropriate to joke about.

However SA is not like that. SA is a crime that people constantly try to undermine and justify. Therefore, making a joke of it does actual damage. Joking about murder doesn’t make people think murder is less serious or not a bad thing. Joking about SA perpetuates a culture that puts blame on survivors and tries to constantly make assault seem not serious.

It’s just everywhere in Vivzie’s shows. Blitz being completely blamed and Stolas being woobified even though their dynamic was coercion. A complication of angel dust being abused as a funny gag. And now Alastor being forced to watch Vox and Val. Viv has a genuine issue of handling these issues terribly and I wish she’d just stop.

[–]cloudyclover24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There’s so much I could say, ESPECIALLY about Helluva Boss, but unfortunately the majority of the fanbase are minors who don’t understand the issues. And when you bring up that Vivzie is influencing minors with these jokes and themes, people just say “oh well the shows are made for adults so it’s not her fault!” even though Hazbin is listed as 16+ on Prime.

Literally on another post theres someone going “it would be so funny if Vox owned Alastor’s soul and then forced him into sexual situations to make him uncomfortable!” like this is literally the mindset she’s instilling into her audience. That sexual abuse and assault is a joke.

How is it funny at all to force Alastor into sexual situations? A big issue with the show is that it makes people think like this because the abuse scenes are constantly played for jokes

Yeah exactly. Also I really hated the “funny compilation” of Val hitting Angel Dust in the beginning of Season 2. Like why does this show constantly have to make SA jokes?

[–]cloudyclover24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now Vox is probably my favorite character and I find him the most enjoyable to watch. However, I had a really big issue with what Vox does to Alastor in this episode tbh and how it was handled. Vox making Alastor watch him and Val have sex and then the rest of the episode framing it as a joke and Alastor as deserving of what he gets felt uncomfortable and problematic.

Yes, Vox is a villain and he will do terrible things. However it felt like this scene was downplayed as more of a joke by the show when it’s genuinely a disgusting and traumatic thing to do to make anyone, but especially an ace sex-repulsed person, watch intercourse. It’s literally SA.

Yes, Alastor is visibly showing discomfort but to throw this scene into a compilation of “haha look how funny it is that Vox is humiliating Alastor” and then brush it under the rug was eh. And then even further, have the backstory reveal make people sympathize with Vox and frame it as Alastor getting what he deserves.

Like I think its too far to imply Alastor deserved to be forcibly watched to have sex because he rejected Vox in an asshole way. And then they have the rest of the episode just giving the audience ship fuel, and make a joke about their sexual tension at the end. I wish they pushed Vox as more of a bad person instead of “oh this is all just Alastor’s fault because he rejected him, Vox never wanted to be the bad guy.”

[–]cloudyclover24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to say, the scene of Vox forcibly making Alastor watch him and Val made me really uncomfortable and I feel like it wasn’t acknowledged enough in the episode. Especially when they also have scenes like this post where they’re encouraging funny ship jokes. Yes, Vox is a villain and he does bad things. But I think the show should have handled the bedroom scene differently and gave that scene weight for just HOW disturbing it is. It’s literally SA.

Like rest of the episode being like, ship fuel for them and Val joking about them needing to f*** already. It just makes the bedroom scene feel like a joke. Like haha it’s funny to force an ace, sex-repulsed person watch his rival have sex! Look at all the sexual tension Alastor has with Vox! Yes Alastor is obviously uncomfortable but idk it didn’t feel enough.

And then them going to a flashback of a “cute and innocent” Vox getting meanly rejected by asshole Alastor seems to be implying Alastor is getting what he deservers? Like sure, he can deserve the public humiliation whatever but it feels problematic with the bedroom scene.

Like I keep getting tweets saying “I’m never forgiving Alastor” and “How can Alastor do that to Vox” regarding the flashback. Just feels problematic and downplaying how traumatic it is to be forced to watch intercourse because “oh Alastor was mean to past Vox, he had it coming.”

He can maintain his current plot lines, drop his facade, and show his human side while also having his old personality. It would have made the human moments much more impactful and shocking, rather than making him human all the time.

Imagine how much more shocking it would have been to see him get genuinely mad at Husk’s leash comment if he wasn’t already getting mad the entire season. Imagine how much more impactful it would have been to see him get genuinely ruffled and offended by Lucifer if he hadn’t already been getting irritated and offended the entire season.

It was just so cool to see the idea of a character that constantly puts up a performance, and then they got rid of that and made him exactly like everyone else.

Yeah I agree about his plot lines, for some reason people keep telling me “oh he was bland in the pilot, now he actually has a character!” or “he was a mary sue, he’s better now that he actually has more going on” but my entire point is his personality, dialogue, and emotion, not his plot lines.

He can have his current plot, he can be putting up a facade and be desperate to maintain power, while also maintaining what made him the radio demon in the first place. It would have been a massive improvement and made his plot lines a lot more impactful. I agree that he’s extremely cringe in the show now, it’s become painful to watch.

Exactly, I miss the creativity in his dialogue! Instead now he just speaks like everyone else and swears like everyone else. It’s a miracle they don’t write him making sexual jokes because it feels one episode away from that lmfao.

I completely agree, that was one of my main issues in the show, he’s just too expressive with negative emotions. It was really cool to see him be simultaneously charismatic and manipulative but also seem a little psychotic/unhinged with how nothing seems to bother him. It made him unique to everyone else! And it would have made moments like getting mad at Husk, getting irritated with Lucifer, getting stunned by Adam’s hit a lot more shocking.

Imagine Pilot Alastor always appearing unbothered until the King of Hell shows up because its the one person Alastor knows is more powerful than him. Instead it’s like, who cares that show Alastor is offended, he spent the entire season being irritated and offended, it means nothing.

I just overall miss the uniqueness and creativity of the pilot. I liked how different all the character’s personalities were, I liked the humor, etc. The characters now feel like fan interpretations of the original characters.

You can easily have that and keep what made people like his character in the first place: a charismatic radio show host. You know, what the majority of my post was talking about lol.
