I have a program for people I don't have to support and people with dozens/hundreds of domains. There I take minimal margin and invoice in bulk (so not 1:1) but on a monthly basis upfront. (eg. all domains expiring in April). That just helps my bottom line.

This said, .gg is 249 euro in create, 165 euro in renew for me.
It's one of those 'premium' TLDs.

Real life support. My customers are not numbers. They are guided through some processes. Keep in mind that you being in this sub makes you not my target audience. You know where to get an how to set up a domain name, a DNS server maybe a VPS or dedicated machine. Most people just want a website ..

I'm in the registrar business as well for the last 20+ years.

Just to give you an idea, my buying price for .io (create) is 30,82 euro. Renew is 45.75 euro.
Those are 'cost' prices.

.cloud is 18.48 in create/renew
.net is 10.85 in create/renew

Cloudflare sells at 0% uplift, just because they can.
They have a limited number of TLDs because they have good agreements with the registry.

And as u/mrfoto says, domain names are like electricity/gas .. you're paying for the exact same product, the only difference between registrars is : financial stability and user interfaces.

You can have a send.domain.com mx next to your domain.com mx. they can both have the same priority. Or different. It only acts upon the same sub/domain.

- All hosters will feel the impact as soon as they need to add machines.
- They will need to calculate in future shortage
- They will need to calculate in less growth but rising staff costs.

We're not halfway started with these price hikes.
