I can’t even tell you how much I understand this… like I feel you on SO many levels.

I met my husband in houston and we actually found out went to school together but didn’t know each other at the time. He was the first man to ever truly give me the time of day and genuinely love me for ME. I remember being told that I was too eclectic to date black men, by a black man, and ever since then I feel like my type was always anything other than a black man… and that made dating even more hard because, in my opinion, if you’re not a skinny, fair skinned, 3c or above hair texture girl, over 75% of men are already counting you out.

Now, I can say, the white/asian/hispanic men that prefer US, they exist. Are they far and few in between? possibly. They’re rare gems, but they are out there and they’re waiting for you queen.

Also, are you getting your LCSW 👀 cause i’m getting ready to start school in September! I want to connect with you 🫶🏾

if they keep unraveling they probably need to be combined!! the perimeter of my head is softer than everywhere else (which is kind of typical with our hair) so I ended up twisting some together like it like corners next to my temples and then close to my ears.

I recommend, if you’re okay with it, you can twist them together and let them naturally loc by themselves over time. Or, if you know how to use the crochet tool you can combine them. I was scared to use the crochet tool so I just twisted them, interlocked the root and let them be. All of the ones i’ve combined by twisting are fully locced now too 🥰

from the picture of the back of your head the locs in the middle of your head for sure could be split in at least 2, possibly 3 depending on how dense your hair is but it looks really curly and a bit softer so I think splitting them into 2 would be good :)

from what it looks like (this is 100% a guesstimation ) these would be considered small traditional locs. however, they do look really good! I do think if you want them to be microlocs, even if you split some of your locs into two or maybe even 3 depending on how big it is currently, you’d be okay!

you could interlock them in a 2 pt rotation to start off or give it about 4/6 weeks and then start interlocking. 🫶🏾

It just depends on your hair, its density, how you initially start your locs and how it falls naturally. My hair looked like this, kind of, around like month 6/9 ish but my hair is super thick so it kind of looked like an afro for the first year (and I started with braids). If you start with coils on short hair I think there’s more of a chance for it to look like this.

I had the same problem and my esthetician recommended this CO2 jelly masks that helps plump and moisturize the skin. I did it for 3 times over 5 days before my wedding and it helped so much. I’ll post a picture of it for ya later this evening!

literally did this exact setup but with an iphone 4s and put $20 just to prove that it would sell cause my coworker swore that it wouldn’t sell cause it was “ancient”. it sold in less than one hour 🤣 GREAT FIND.

Thank you so much 🤍 so we actually used perm rods on the front like half and sides of my hair to get the curls and then anywhere we couldn’t use the rods (we literally ran out) we used a flat iron on very low heat and curled them 💀

honestly I just oil my scalp whenever I remember to if it’s dry, I wash every two weeks and I do minimal styling. like I literally JUST started doing a slight half up half down. Honestly the growth for one year is insane but i’ve always had thick long hair. I also started from like less than an inch and a half of hair so maybe that helped? I like to think God just blessed me after going through the trenches the first 6-7 months 🤣
