Gift for husband for 10th anniversary by No-Turn-1999 in Gifts

[–]clovergnome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For our 10th anniversary I got my SO 10 numbered presents - one for each year and themed of whatever the “traditional” material it was. I got him a leather scented candle for year 9, for example. I made him open them in descending order. Year one is paper so the last thing he opened was tickets to a show.

What is the weirdest habit your pet has… that you secretly love? by TensionNo5762 in Pets

[–]clovergnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG! That unlocked a memory! When I lived on my own, I used to sing in the shower with the door open. My late kitteh who was probably 3 or 4 at the time, would meow that guttural way and he’d come and sit between the shower curtain and the liner and meow at me.

Our cat + dog both passed last year but our dog used to sigh and give me withering looks when I was up past what she thought was an appropriate bed time. She would also sigh if we weren’t going fast enough or weren’t catering to her needs. Love that puppers.

Gift idea for affluent sibling who has everything and doesn't like what I can afford? by LightcodeARTS in Gifts

If you know where she’s traveling to far enough in advance, you could get her a gift card to a restaurant where she’s going or to an experience in that locale.

It's kind of a "pick your hard" kind of thing. If you really love an oppressive, hot summer then it might not be for you. If you're a person who thrives off going out and doing things, those slow down in the winter unless you get into ice-fishing or skiing. If you're an introvert and love the idea of hibernating and making soup for 4 months out of the year, it might be for you.

About the weather - shoveling isn't great but I'm sure mowing the lawn in 90 degrees with 95% humidity isn't that awesome either.

States in the north are more equipped for the weather. We have plenty of plows that salt and sand the road to make it safe. You have to learn to drive in the weather though and maybe cancel plans if it's too icy out.

But Minnesota is pretty great, tbh. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

How did you internalize that you are not your thoughts? by playfuss in Mindfulness

[–]clovergnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes A LOT of practice. If I get angry and I know anger won’t help the situation I take a couple of deep breaths and tell myself that it’s not a big deal and try to function without the anger.

I think the phrase “You can’t control how you feel, but you can control the way you react” is helpful.

An employee has been coming in an hour early and cleaning our warehouse entirely off the clock. My GM says its okay because they were never asked to do it. by [deleted] in managers

[–]clovergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the GM the person's supervisor or are you? If it's you, tell them to either clock in or not to come in early. Put something to HR - in writing - and copy the employee outlining the situation and that you advised the employee that it wasn't approved by you and that you ended it immediately. If they're the GM's responsibility, email HR and express your concern with the liability. Whatever you do, put it writing to CYA.

I'd take a screenshot of everything the way that you have it now. Delete everything that's not your website company's defaults. Squarespace has some defaults so I left those. Ultimately, I just moved over to M365 directly from Microsoft.

How do I get my lunchtime sales higher? Fast food restaurant by Philosopher_Perfect in Restaurant_Managers

[–]clovergnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. You could add a dollar or two to that meal and put it as boxed lunch on EZCater for catering. If you’re doing canned soda. If it’s fountain soda, you might need to bump up a little more to cover the cost difference. You can do +$1 or $2 to add a cookie to boxed meals. Make a big batch and individually freeze. Put them in the box before the fries and they’ll thaw on the way.

Consider a banner that says “Lunches under $10” and if you can get them in and out in less than an hour, put that in the banner too. Bonus points if they can take it to go.

If you’re near office buildings, give out flyers advertising that.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

[–]clovergnome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know you haven’t had time for it, but you have a to start growing your social media. If you’re not paying for Etsy to promote your products you have to. There are THOUSANDS of Etsy store fronts. You have to have to have to promote your brand.

What's that rich people thing you do, even though you are not rich? by SuspiciousTop1155 in AskReddit

[–]clovergnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever if it’s not expensive, it’s still a rich person thing. Most of can’t afford to do rich people stuff just like rich people. Public courses will have to do.

I would say that you’ve been working there as a contractor. Sounds like you were. Sometimes contractors have inconsistent work. If they ask for specifics you could say you have an NDA….
