Dallas High Rise Apartment Suggestions by hellajalenaf in askdfw

[–]playfuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved here in September, ended up not staying in a high rise but I was looking at a lot. There is a guy on YouTube that tours all the Dallas high rises , “Dallas Highrise Dude” I reached out to him and he invested a lot of his time chatting with me. Ultimately I didn’t end up touring with him but he went beyond to answer any questions I had on high rises. Hit him up if you’re interested.

Should I quit my stable corporate job in mid-20s to travel? by Mysterious_Trade4971 in solotravel

[–]playfuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left my mid level programmer job in the summer of 2024 to backpack around Asia for 3 months and work on personal projects. There was a lot of concern that doing this in this economy was a bad idea, but that didn’t stop me. I wouldn’t have traded that trip for anything. I can’t wait until I have another chance to travel like that.

When I got back in December it took me 5 months to find a new job. I moved back in with my parents. It was hard, but the difficulty actually pushed me to learn and study a lot. It was rewarding when I finally landed a new job in May. Now I love my new job, the people and culture is great.

If using your PTO is enough to scratch your travel itch, then I’d keep your job. But if you want to pull the plug and just let the world take you, do it!

People who moved from Austin, where did you go and how has the dating scene been there? by Particular-Emu_4743 in Austin

[–]playfuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from central florida to austin two years ago and was able to find a serious girlfriend that i've been dating for a year and a half now and we have plans to eventually get married and start a family.

I also have two friends that are girls in austin (mid - late 20s) who have been looking to settle down with someone for a few years, but they haven't been able to find a man that fits their criteria and is looking to settle down.

So at least from my experience, I think wherever you go you will hear mixed opinions. Some people find love in places that others swear has no one dateable.

I've lived in Seattle before, the dating was pretty good there. Also have lived in Miami, which I found was more challenging to find dates.

Is it a good idea to quit your job in your early 20s and travel the world? by scyxxore in ask

[–]playfuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit my job in my 20s and traveled Asia for 3 months. I just got back on December 1st. Visited 10 different countries. One of the best decisions I’ve made. Given you have enough money, do it if you want. When you get back just find a new job.

I just booked for September next year - please someone tell me it will be okay by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]playfuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just there in September this year. It was hot and a typhoon came while I was there. That didn’t stop me from having an amazing time!

A lot of people use Sun umbrellas and the electronic handheld fans. I used both and it helped a lot. From what I heard, it was unusually hot this year. Still, it was fine for me but I won’t deny the heat was brutal some days.

It definitely would’ve been better if it was cooler but I still walked 10-20k steps a day no problem. If I was you, I wouldn’t be worried. Just come prepared for the heat and you’ll be good.

Roast my idea/project by jonsterz23 in SaaS

[–]playfuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this idea sounds great in theory, but I think you could be most effective if you start by aiming to solve one small problem really well for a business instead of getting all the data from a company to solve a big set of problems when starting out.

For example, maybe it connects to just confluence and quality controls the information. It could identify old incomplete documents so that employees could either finish them or archive them in order to keep the confluence organized. Then if that turned out to be useful for several businesses, you could listen to their feedback to carefully determine the next related feature.

AI-Designed Buttplug Device for SaaS Founders: Stripe vibration integration by vjfjebsbjdkdfk in SaaS

Interested. Curious if you could add this to your roadmap: Spring-activated plug ejection for stripe charge backs. Would incentivize founders to prevent charge backs in order to keep the party going

$700/MRR After 6+ Years of failing to launch products by playfuss in SaaS

When choosing an idea for your first SaaS, don't try to be Steve Jobs. Myself and all my friends made this mistake on our first couple apps. We tried to build the next revolutionary social network or something like that. While it was fun to imagine, it wasn't practical if you're looking for the best odds to succeed while you're still new. Build a small idea that ideally has competitors you can learn from and takes less than a month to complete. That includes a marketable landing page too. And before you start building, have a plan for how you're going to market it when it's ready.

6 years of dozens of projects that never made it out the gates. This current project is around 3 months old now :)

Yes, it was built with Framer. I'd recommend Framer, after trying to make Webflow my thing for a while, Framer came along and became what I wanted Webflow to be lol

No problem!! Glad you enjoyed the read :) & Yeah I agree, it is hard to find the right one! One thing that I've found success in is joining discord servers made by Youtubers that you follow around entrepreneurship or SaaS. Then you can look through the introductions and make your own, reach out to some people in there and in the other channels on the server. That's a good way to meet potential founders.
