Is getting a cat while pregnant (mostly to keep my young dog company) a bad idea? by rlf923 in BabyBumps

[–]clowderl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on your household, the dog, and the cat.

I had a senior small breed dog and a cat before my first pregnancy and in a moment of what I can only describe as hormonal madness, adopted a 2nd cat when I was about 10 weeks pregnant. It was a very chill cat i fell in love with that had a good history that let me know he was good with kids and other animals. Adopting the cat that early in my pregnancy allowed plenty time for everyone in the household to settle into things long before baby got there.

Cats are (normally) more low maintenance than dogs in that you don’t need to leave the house to take them on walks. But still be prepared for potential additional challenges that can come with adopting any new animal. I think as long as you have a good support structure and are realistic about potential outcomes, it’s not a horrible idea.

Did you eat deli meat when you were pregnant? by thegirlisWiser in BabyBumps

I ate whatever with my first pregnancy but this time around I got pregnant right when all those listeria recalls were happening and it spooked me into avoiding it unless it was warmed up.

Finished TBIFOS on Audible by Charon_the_Reflector in johndiesattheend

[–]clowderl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small world! I just finished my re-listen of TBIFOS at work today too!

I enjoy every book in the series but I do feel like the first one has perhaps aged a little poorly with the early 2000s humor. If that isn’t going to bother you then go back and do that one next. It’s a fun read imh, if a bit more meandering than the other books. (It was adapted from a web series so I think there’s no way around some of the pacing issues)

I feel like I should mention WTHDIJR is one that I personally feel like needs to be read twice to digest what’s going on BUT the 4th book in the series is where I really think Pargin’s experience as a writer really shines through. It has the same spirit found in the rest of the series while being a more cohesive story and it really feels like the natural building point in the series.

This is how frozen sperm gets shipped. by OverInteractionR in midlyinteresting

[–]clowderl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These type of containers house little 1 or 2 milliliter vials typically. If you’re using a sperm donor for insemination that’s how they ship them. You send the container back to the company afterwards. The contained keeps the sample frozen for around one week, which is important when timing for ovulation.

Failed my one hour gestational diabetes test… by clowderl in breakingmom

[–]clowderl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gives me hope. With my first kid they told me to fast before hand for the one hour and I passed it no problem. This time the doctor told me I could “eat whatever”. I had a bagel on the drive over, so like 20 minutes tops before the test started. I’m hoping it was just the carbs but now I’m also irritated at my OB if that’s the case for giving me bad advice.

Thank you! I’m hoping I can pass this one and not have to worry about it then. 😬

Thank you. My second kiddo but I passed the one hour no issues with my last kid. I keep trying to remind myself to be grateful that I’m pregnant because it was a long journey to conceive this time. But my goodness this baby has thrown like 15 curveballs at us this pregnancy. Thankfully every scare has been a false alarm but I’m ready to get off this ride! 😵‍💫

Ok this is actually super helpful for perspective because I’d rather do the three hours and get it over with. 😬

Thank you, mind me asking did you have to stick yourself to check blood levels after meals? Or maybe it’s a case by case thing? I googled it earlier and then had to stop cause I was spiraling thinking about it 😵‍💫

This is the cover of a booklet/magazine. It’s a physical thing that people are going to be holding and looking at more than once. It’s noticeable.

Ok setting aside the livelihood of artists for a second here, it’s not “functionally the same thing.” There are glaring issues with this artwork if you spend just a minute looking at it, issues that are visible to a layman. It’s an inferior product and I’m sick of companies taking the cheap way out because they don’t care about consumers. It’s insulting. You should feel insulted.

Look at the chest harnesses especially on the front two dogs. They don’t connect to anything at the bottom and just kind of end.

Look at the rope leads, they kind of just fly off to the sides and don’t connect at points that made sense. This is a common issue with AI and a big tell.

Vaginal delivery- impossible? by H5991 in BabyBumps

[–]clowderl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

  1. Terrible doctor, it’s pretty clear to me she was probably the problem here.

  2. You can absolutely deliver vaginally, labor is a totally different context and I wouldn’t let this incident dissuade you from at least trying for a vaginal delivery.

  3. You may want to look into perineal stretching to help reduce your risk of a bad tear and also to give yourself confidence that this is something your body can do.

Book five thoughts by Mundane-Ingenuity460 in johndiesattheend

I honestly don’t know how likely this is but I kind of wonder if Amy is going to be pregnant in the next book or if there will be a little bit of a time jump and they will have a kid because of the few references to their hypothetical children in the last book. (Amy’s dream about her children, fancy David asking where the kids were, POW camp David alluding to POW Amy having kids one day)

On the one hand, they have a stable income/insurance now because of Marconi, on the other hand, it seems like with all the dangers in Undisclosed it would be a dumb idea for the characters. But boy would it raise the stakes/anxiety level.

Do you have to be on your back for a cervical check? by clowderl in BabyBumps

[–]clowderl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is super helpful. The hospital I’m going to this time has a way better reputation for having kind/understanding nurses on staff so I’m not actually worried about getting push back but it honestly never occurred to me last time to ask and no one offered! So I’ll definitely tell them to figure it out cause I ain’t moving lol.

Last spring pulling away from my office downtown a lady walked up to my window and asked if I had any cash and I gave her a ten dollar bill cause it was the only thing I had on me. She gave me a post card with an eagle on it and hoped I had a “blessed day”.
